A Fond Farewell (Ms Mahr)
As most of you know, today is my last day before I start my new job next week. I just want to take this wee opportunity to thank all of you for everything over the past 6.5 years I’ve been here. You are all wonderful young people who have worked with me and you have even taught me as well! It’s a very bittersweet day for me and I will miss you all. You are all wonderful and kind people, please keep that up x

S4-6 Prelims (J Davidson)
Can all pupils please be respectful when moving around the school. Exams are happening in several places (Assembly Hall, Library, D11, Langs Corridor etc) from Tues 10-Mon 23 Jan inclusive. Please be as quiet as possible, remember this could be your exams when you are older!! Pupils should meet Mrs Davidson 15 mins before the prelim at the War Memorial and can use the Dinnerhall between papers.

College Applications (J Davidson)
Week Beg 23 Jan:
Tues, Pd 2 – any in S4 interested in applying for Sept, fulltime courses should register with their teacher (study skills, RE, SE or PE) and then come to B16/18.
Thurs, Pd 3 – any in S4 interested in applying for Sept, fulltime courses should register with their teacher (study skills, RE, SE or PE) and then come to B16/18.
Tues-Fri lunchtime – anyone any in S5/6 interested in applying for Sept, fulltime courses should come to B16/18 from 1:15pm.

Senior Netball (Miss Kirkwood)
Could all senior netball A team players, please have a short meeting a break regarding the Scottish Cup tie on Monday. Please see Miss Kirkwood if you cannot attend.

S2 Hospitality Roadshow at Fife College (Miss Collins)
We have got a fantastic opportunity for any S2 pupil who has a genuine interest in a career in the Hospitality Industry. The ‘Hospitality Roadshow’ is on Tuesday 31 January and we have places for 15 S2 pupils. The minibus will be leaving the school at 8:55am and we will return to school before the end of the school day for catching buses etc. If you are interested in attending, please come and see me before break time on Tuesday 24 January to collect a permission slip and put your name down.

S4-S6 First Aid Opportunity (Miss Wallace)
A fantastic opportunity to gain the following workplace qualifications: Emergency First Aid at Work (SCQF level 6) and First Aid for Mental Health Awareness (SCQF level 4) has been organised for Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 January at KHS. If interested please speak to Miss Wallace, B10, asap as there are limited spaces.

S3 Engineering the Future for Girls Programme – Strathclyde University Summer School (Dr Black)
This programme is run by Strathclyde University to promote careers in Engineering for girls. Strathclyde University are running an in-person summer school this year (5 – 8  June 2023). You will get the opportunity to work with university and industry professionals and learn about the various careers paths that engineering can lead you to. If you are interested, please speak to either Dr Black (A6) or Miss Tennant (A7) for more information about the application process. Applications are open and the closing date for applications is Monday 6 February.

S6 Yearbook (Miss Lipton)
Final call for S6 Yearbook submissions! We need all statements/pictures etc before Friday 20 January & payment needs to be made before Friday 17 February.

Bowling with LEAP Sports (Dr Murray)
February is LGBT History Month and to mark that LEAP Sports have organised a bowling competition on Sunday 12 February at Tenpin Falkirk. It’s for aged 14+ – if you fancy being part of it see Dr Murray in A4!

S6 Leaver Hoodies (Mrs Rae)
S6 Leaver Hoodies can now be paid for on iPayimpact. They are priced at £22 and this includes nickname and a huge choice of colours. All payments to be in by 16 February. Please come and talk to Mrs Rae if you have any questions or there are any barriers to you being able to pay for a hoodie.

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
This is now the time of year when employers start to look for apprentices/ employees. Recent feedback from employers have said that alongside qualifications they are looking for “A person that is willing to learn and go that extra mile. Someone who has an interest and cares about the work they do.” Could that be you?

Apprenticeships and job adverts are being added to the Padlet all the time including currently Diageo, Babcock, EDF and Lloyds Banking Group.

Woodwind and Brass Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
Lessons are on today in the Music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board.

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

Card Club (Mrs Rae)
Come along to the PSO base at lunchtime to play various card games and make new friends. Maybe your friends are off, and you have nowhere to go or you see yourself as a real “card shark” all are very welcome!

Wind Band (Mrs Simpson)
The Wind Band will take place on Friday lunchtime in E13/Dance Studio.

Health Zone Drop In (Mrs Davidson)
Every Friday lunchtime, the school nurse team run a confidential drop in session. They are situated behind the careers room opposite the main office.

S1 Reading Group (Miss Britton)
S1 Reading Group during Friday lunchtimes in room B23. It’s a chance to practice reading out loud.

Have Lunch with A Hero! (Mrs Brown)
The swords and sandals are back, by popular demand! Bring your lunch along to C11, if you’d like to watch this classic with monsters by Ray Harryhausen.

MONDAY 23 JANUARY

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

Percussion Ensemble (Mrs Simpson)
The Percussion Ensemble will take place on Monday lunchtime in E11.

Chess Club (Dr Black)
Chess club will be running on Monday lunchtimes in A6, 1:10-1:40pm. Grand masters in the making, you can learn how to play if you have not played before.

Biology Numeracy Study Support (Mrs Gannon)
Get support with Biology numeracy and problem solving. Monday 3:15-4:15pm in A1/A2.
