Remembrance Day Poppies (Dr Murray)
Every year in the days leading up to Remembrance Day on the 11 November, many people choose to wear poppies as a symbol to remember those who have lost their lives in conflicts around the world and those who have been killed as a result of terrorism.  Remembrance Day marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.  The reason poppies are used to remember those who have given their lives in battle is because they are the flowers which grew on the battlefields after World War One ended.  If you would like to wear a poppy, they are available from the Prefect Base at reception for free or a small donation if you are able.

S4-S6 Saltire Awards (Miss Lipton)
Can I remind those volunteering both in and out with school to remember to submit their Saltire hours via the team every week. Anyone looking for volunteering opportunities in school can find these in the Opportunities channel in the team – there are always teachers and departments needing help throughout the year – prefect duties also count! If you have still to sign up for Saltire see Miss Lipton in D9 for the team code.

Chemistry Study Support (Dr. Black)
All levels welcome in A6 every Thursday 3.15pm-4.15.

S2 Parents’/Carers’ Evening – In School – Wednesday 9 November – PEBS (Mrs Noone)
The parent/carer on-line booking system is open. Booking closes at 11:55pm on Monday 7 November.

UCAS Applicants (Mrs Sim)
A reminder to those pupils doing a UCAS application this year that the first draft of personal statements is due to be handed in to guidance teachers by the end of the day THIS FRIDAY (28/10/22).

Senior Girls’ Football (Mrs Steedman)
Can those involved in the senior girls’ football team please attend a meeting at break today outside the PE classroom.

Active Girls’ Day Netball Event (Mr Greenhorn)
On Friday 28 October (3:15-4:45pm) KHS will be hosting a staff and pupil netball competition to celebrate Active Girls’ Day. We are looking for any interested pupils from S3-S6 to sign-up and take part in our special event. Active Girls Day Sign-up Link

S6 Prom (Miss Lipton)
Any S6 who have yet to pay their prom deposit can you please do so ASAP either via iPayimpact or cash at the office.

Art Club (Mrs Donaldson)
Come along to this first meeting to find out what Art Club is all about. The club will have different projects to take part in such as creating artwork for displays, competitions and seasonal activities. Bring your packed/cold lunch to D15, Art Department 1pm on Thursdays.

Active Girls Day Netball Event: Our planned staff & pupils Netball event due to take place this Friday has been postponed. The PE team will set a new date later in the term and share with those who have signed-up. The registration to sign-up will remain open (for any interested pupils).

Fife Schools LGBT+ Hallowe’en Party (LGBT+ Group)
If you are joining us on Sunday, it’s 11.00am at the reception entrance. If your’re late, the door may be locked so come round the back to Home Ec and knock on a window! If you’re planning to come, make sure you have given your signed permission from to Dr. M!  🎃 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
Padlet has a few local jobs such as many seasonal workers at the Retail Park if you are looking for a part time job. S5 pupils are invited to apply for Career Ready – an opportunity to get career input and mentoring from a local business. This will lead to 4 weeks paid employment next summer and the chance to build upon your employability skills. If you are interested, please speak to Mrs Whyte in C13. More information on the padlet.

This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

The String Group will take place on Thursday lunchtime in E13.

S1 & S2 Netball (Mrs Steedman)
Training will be afterschool every Thursday from 3:30-4:15pm.

Card Club (Mrs Rae)
Come along to the PSO base at lunchtime to play various card games and make new friends. Maybe your friends are off, and you have nowhere to go or you see yourself as a real “card shark” all are very welcome!

Wind Band (Mrs Simpson)
The Wind Band will take place on Friday lunchtime in E13/Dance Studio.

Health Zone Drop In (J Davidson)
Every Friday lunchtime, the school nurse team run a confidential drop in session. They are situated behind the careers room opposite the main office.

Have Lunch with A Hero! (Mrs Brown)
“Who put the GLAD in Gladiator? HERC-U-LES! Bring your lunch along to C11, if you’d like to watch this Disney classic.
