Fordell Firs Trip(s) (Mr Greenhorn)
Adam Smith Group 2 will be the first group to take part in our planned Outdoor and Adventure Days. On Tuesday, can all the attending pupils please sign-in to tutor first, before making your way to the Dinner Hall. This will be our meeting point for all S1’s on their designated trip. If pupils do not know which group they are in, they can check the group lists at the Active Schools Office.

Scotland Woman’s Football World Cup Qualifier v Austria (Mrs Steedman)
Anyone interested in going to the Scotland Woman’s World Cup qualifier game against Austria on Thursday the 6 October at Hampden, please attend a meeting at break today in the girls’ gym.

Health Zone Drop In (Mrs Davidson)
Every Friday lunchtime, the school nurse team run a confidential drop in session. They are situated behind the careers room opposite the main office. This Friday they will have a staff at the War Memorial to let you meet them and tell you more.

MVP Volunteers Meeting (Miss Dalziel)
Could all pupils who volunteered to be an MVP mentor, please attend a short meeting today during lunchtime at 1:20pm in B19. Attendance is essential if you want to be an MVP mentor this year. I look forward to seeing you all there.

S6 Yearbook (Miss Lipton)
The Yearbook committee have assigned you a task in the S5-S6 Year Group Team. We need your 100 Parting Word statement for the book which should be a reflection of your time here at KHS – what you loved, what you’ll miss etc. Please be sensible with this, anything inappropriate will be removed.

Please sign these at the end & submit before Friday 7 October 2022 – any issues please see Mrs Czudek, Mr I’Anson or Miss Lipton asap.

S3-S6 Future Asset Competition (Miss Nessel)
Pupils who have signed up to the competition and attended the meeting a few weeks ago have been emailed this morning by Miss Nessel (Tuesday 13th). You have been sent a permission form which needs to be filled in electronically or on paper and returned to Miss Nessel, as well as a online form to be filled. Both need to be completed ASAP. Any questions, see Miss Nessel, Miss Samfat or Miss Lipton.

S3 Parents’/Carers’ Evening In School – Wednesday 28 September – PEBS (Mrs Noone)
The parent/carer on-line booking system is open. Booking closes at 11:55pm on Tuesday 27 September.

Street Theatre at Fife Pride, Saturday 17 September 2022 (Dr Murray)
Fife Pride are working with Surge Scotland to produce some street theatre performance for the Pride on the Saturday 17 September 2022. This is a really exciting opportunity for ANYONE who has an interest in drama and performance. There’s more info on the Fife Pride website. See Dr Murray if you’re interested!

Saltire Awards (Miss Lipton)
Can I remind any S4/5/6 who are volunteering either in or out of school or interested in volunteering opportunities to join our Teams Group using code 4i49tc2 or see me in D9. All hours should be submitted via the link in the Teams Group (ideally once a week). If you are looking for something to do, check out the Volunteer Opportunities channel to see which departments need a hand! When milestones are reached, certificates will be awarded which can be an excellent addition to your CV. Please make sure you don’t miss out!

Hispanic Heritage Month (Alisha Ahmad – Equalities Group)
From the 15 September to 15 October, it is Hispanic Heritage Month. If you have time in tutor over the next month you might want to ask your teacher to watch the following video (or you could watch yourself) which explain Hispanic Heritage Month and the history behind it. You’ll want to watch from the start up to 3 minutes 30 seconds.

S5-S6 EMA (Mrs Geddes)
If you have applied and been approved for EMA, please bring you completed Learning Agreement to the school office. We cannot proceed with any payments until this has been done. If you have still to apply, please do this as soon as you can. Any applications received by Fife Council after 30 September 2022 cannot be backdated and you will only be paid from the date the application is received. Please remember you also need to make a new application each academic year.

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
The Padlet has been updated with some opportunities including many local part-time jobs including – Waiting Staff, Store Assistants, Kitchen Staff and Children’s Party Host at Wonder World! First step when applying for a job is to write a CV there is help on the Padlet with how to do so! We still also have local apprenticeships and work experience available on the padlet. Please have a look!

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

Card Club (Mrs Rae)
Come along to the PSO base at lunchtime to play various card games and make new friends. Maybe your friends are off, and you have nowhere to go or you see yourself as a real “card shark” all are very welcome!

Wind Band (Mrs Simpson)
The Wind Band will take place on Friday lunchtime in E13/Dance Studio.

Have Lunch with A Hero! (Mrs Brown)
Classics lunchtime Film Club will be starting up on Fridays featuring all the great movies about heroes like Percy Jackson, Hercules and Perseus. All new members welcome. Bring a packed lunch to C11 at the start of lunch, if you’d like to watch the film.

LGBT+ Group (LGBT+ Committee)
The legendary Kirkcaldy High LGBT+ Group meets at lunchtime TODAY! This group is for anyone of any identity including allies. Dr Murray’s classroom (A4) is the place to be and all are welcome. You can make badges, play with “fidget toys” and chat about any topic with like-minded people. We are running a competition to re-decorate our LGBT+ noticeboards. You could contribute a picture, a poem, a short story, a poster, or any other creative medium you fancy. You can do these at the LGBT+ Tuesday group meeting or in your own time. Hand your contributions to Dr Murray in A4 – prizes to be won!

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)

S1-S6 Badminton Club (Mr Harrower)
Badminton Club will be on afterschool today in the Games Hall 3:30-4:15pm. All pupils are welcome.

S1-S6 Basketball Club (Mr Harrower)
Basketball Club will be on afterschool today in the gyms 3:30-4:15pm. All pupils are welcome.

Girls’ Football (Mrs Steedman)
All girls interested in playing for the girls’ school football team can attend training after school on Tuesday 3:30-4:15pm.

Biology Study Support (Miss Irvine)
Study support sessions are now on after school on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15pm in A1. All levels welcome.

KHS Choir! (Mrs Duckett)
Open to everyone, no auditions! After school on Tuesdays with Mrs Duckett in E10.
