TUESDAY 26 APRIL

Hot Meal: Leek and potato soup, Chicken tikka and rice, naan bread and vegetables or Beef/Vegetable burger, coleslaw and salad.

SQA Exams (Mr Allan)
Best wishes to all who will be sitting exams over the next few weeks. Today is Politics and Latin. Please be quiet around the building and in the front playground at lunchtime. The upper floors of the building are “out of bounds” at breaks. Thank you.

Outdoor Cafe (Mrs Hardie)
The outdoor cafe will be closed until further notice.

Prayer Room (Alisha Ahmad, S3, and the Equalities Committee)
There is a prayer room available for Ramadan. It includes prayer mats, tasbih (prayer beads), hijabs, and facilities for Wuḍū (cleansing). It is the room next door to Mr Allan’s room.

Eid Party (Alisha Ahmad, S3, and the Equalities Committee)
We will be celebrating Eid al-Fitr here at KHS at lunchtime on Friday 6 May. Amazing food will be on-offer and all are welcome. Tickets are available from Alisha Ahmad, Dr Murray (A4), or Ms Mahr (C12). There will be a suggested donation to charity of £3 or whatever you can afford on the day.

S1 Football (Mr Pennel)
S1 Football is cancelled after school tonight due to a staff meeting.

Craft Club (Mrs Patton)
Craft Club is not on after school today (Tuesday), but will be on Thursday lunchtime in C6.

School Show Chorus/Ensemble (Mrs Simpson)
Vocal rehearsals today at lunchtime in E13, Mrs Simpson’s room. Please bring your lunch and be ready to start at 1:15pm.

Battlefields Trip 2023 (Mr Harrower)
There will be a meeting on Wednesday 27 April at 1:20pm in B17 for all S2 pupils allocated a place on the 2023 Battlefields Trip. Attendance is essential. If you cannot make it, you must let Mr Harrower or Miss Osborne know.

2024 French Trip (Mrs Morris & Miss Coggill)
Fantastic News! The 2024 French trip has been given the go ahead! This will include visits to EuroDisney, Battlefields and Paris. If any pupils from S1-S2 are interested in this trip, can they please attend a meeting in C9 during break on Thursday.

S1-S2 Rwandan African Tea Tasting Session (Mrs McMahon)
On Friday 29 April, Period 2, a presentation from David Gasana (survivor of the Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda) along with a demonstration of how to make Rwandan African Tea. There are 12 spaces still available. Please see Mrs McMahon (room D2/4) to put your name down.

KHS Community Choir (Mrs Duckett)
The choir is cancelled today due to staff training.

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
Check out the DYW Padlet for information on Part Time Jobs as well as opportunities for those wishing to leave school including apprenticeships and Full Time Roles! S2 Pupils – First Chances (Mrs Nessel)
If you would be interested in joining the First Chances programme with St Andrews University in S3, please fill in the form via QR code to apply. In the programme you get to take part in trips to University and College, including over night residential stays. They also support you with free tutoring and help with school work from S3-S6. You can also apply for special funding for University/college when you leave school if you are part of the programme. Apply before Wednesday 27 April.

LGBT+ Group (LGBT+ Committee)
The legendary and amazing LGBT+ Group meets every Tuesday lunchtime in A4 (Dr Murray’s room in Science) for anyone who wants to have a nice place to sit and enjoy their lunch, get to know other people, make badges and make keyrings. EVERYONE and ANYONE is welcome, hope to see you there!

Mental Health Ambassadors (Miss Hay)
Please meet today in B6 at 1:10pm. Feel free to bring your lunch!

Badminton Club (Mr Harrower)
Badminton club will be on afterschool on Tuesday in the Games Hall (3:15-4:15pm). All pupils from S1-S6 are welcome to attend.

Young STEM Leader (Miss Tennant)
Young STEM Leader sessions will take place every Tuesday from 3:15-4:15pm in A7.

Guitar group is on today in E13. Please bring your lunch and be ready to play for 1:15pm.

Keyboard Group (Mrs Simpson)
Keyboard group is on today in E10 with Mr Duncan.

S1-S3 Maths Homework Support (Mr Jones)
Maths homework club with Mr Jones will run weekly every Wednesday lunchtime (1:15-1:40pm) for pupils in S1 to S3. Grab your lunch first and come along to C3 for homework support.

Equalities Group (Ms Mahr)
Come along and meet the Equalities Group on Wednesday lunchtimes at 1pm (bring your lunch) in C12! Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you all!

Little Shop of Horrors (Mr McPherson)
Rehearsals are on after school tonight. All cast members check the schedule and attend the rehearsals you are called for.
