There is no doubt that the positive ethos of our school, our culture of equality and our pupils’ attitude to work and respect for themselves are all enhanced by a common dress code. The uniform builds that feeling of “belonging” to KHS, reminds the wearer that they are “ready for work” and reduces any tendency to flaunt designer wear or labels. Uniform can also help our security as it makes any intruder to our buildings or grounds easier to identify.
Our dress code is quite simple. We expect a plain white shirt and visible school tie, knotted near the throat. Any jumper worn should be plain black with only a minimal logo. Trousers/skirts should be plain black. Same goes for shoes, and trainers are acceptable so long as they are black. Our blazers are particularly smart, hard wearing and practical. They are available from the school or online form “Academy Uniforms” at a very good price. Leggings without pockets are not acceptable, nor are very thin leggings/jeggings through which underwear can be seen. Hoodies are not acceptable wear in class. Should any parent/carer need help in acquiring uniform, please just ask. We have a “bank”, and much of it is new stock.
We have made a special arrangement with a blazer supplier Stevensons (£34.50 inclusive of the school badge).
However, please be assured other blazers are also acceptable – either purchased locally or “hand me downs” from older brothers or sisters.
You can apply for a clothing grant. Also, we do have a good stock of second hand blazers donated by leavers and we are happy to gift a blazer to any family qualifying for free meals and facing hardship. Please contact Guidance.
No pupil should be sent to school wearing clothes which are inappropriate (e.g. see through items, track pants, sweatshirts with slogans, very short skirts, or thin leggings). Many thanks.
