111. Blue Bulletin – Tuesday 22/02/22

TUESDAY 22 FEBRUARY

Hot Meal: Leek and potato soup, Chicken tikka and rice, naan bread and vegetables or Beef/Vegetable burger, coleslaw and salad.

S1/S2 First Chances Trip (Miss Nessel)
All pupils going on this trip should attend tutor as normal today. Then meet outside the assembly hall Period 1. All staff attending the trip will meet you there and take you down to the buses. You should be in full school uniform, with your packed lunches. If you are entitled to Free School Meals, I have ordered your packed lunch from the kitchens and will have this with me.

Senior Football (Mr English)
All boys must attend a meeting in the Girls’ Gym at break today.

U18 Girls’ Football (Miss Steedman)
There will be a meeting at break in the PE classroom today for those playing on Thursday.

Badminton Club (Mr Harrower)
Badminton Club is cancelled after school today.

Girls’ Football (Miss Steedman)
Training is cancelled after school today but will resume next week.

Purple Friday (LGBT+/Equality Groups)
As part of LGBT+ History Month, we’re celebrating “Purple Friday” on Friday (obviously). It’s NOT a “Dress Down Day” but an opportunity to wear a purple item of clothing, badge, ribbon etc. to show your support for equality and diversity at KHS. Wear purple with pride! 🏳️‍🌈

S4-6 First Chances Pupils (Miss Nessel)
We know that some First Chances Fife pupils may lack a safe, quiet space to study, so would like to offer this at Fife College. We have quiet areas, areas for group work and pcs.

We’d like to invite pupils to the college campus every Monday evening as follows. Pupils can arrive and leave at any time during the session, and should just go to reception on arrival. The session is for self-study, and all Kirkcaldy High Schools are invited. Sessions won’t run during the April holidays.

St Brycedale Campus: 4pm–6:30pm

Science Research Placements (Dr Murray)
Dr Murray has an opportunity for folk in S5 to spend some time during the summer working in REAL science/engineering labs. This would obviously be a great opportunity for anyone looking to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths subjects beyond school. See Dr Murray if you’re interested! Yearbook (Mrs Czudek)
Anyone wishing to buy a yearbook – the full cost is £20. The full amount must be paid by 28 February. All payments must be made through iPayimpact. If you need any assistance in setting up the payment please come and see Mrs Czudek in CDT.

Sutton Trust Applications – S5 Pupils (Miss Fotheringham)
S5 pupils who are planning on applying to university, you have the opportunity to apply for a week long Sutton Trust Summer School where you will experience student life at one of the UK’s top universities. Percussion Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
Lessons are on today in the music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board in E11.

Craft Club (Mrs Patton)
Craft Club is on after school each Tuesday in C6 from 3:20pm-4:20pm, all are welcome.

LGBT+ Group (LGBT+ Committee)
The legendary and amazing LGBT+ Group meets every Tuesday lunchtime in A4 (Dr Murray’s room in Science) for anyone who wants to have a nice place to sit and enjoy their lunch, get to know other people, make badges and make keyrings. EVERYONE and ANYONE is welcome, hope to see you there!

S1 Football (Mr Pennel)
S1 football will run on Tuesday afterschool (3:30-4:30pm). Training will be on the Astro so bring appropriate footwear if possible.

WEDNESDAY 23 FEBRUARY

Lessons are on today in the music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board in E11.

Guitar group is on today in E13. Please bring your lunch and be ready to play for 1:15pm.

Keyboard Group (Mrs Simpson)
Keyboard group is on today in E10 with Mr Duncan.

S1-S3 Maths Homework Support (Mr Jones)
Maths homework club with Mr Jones will run weekly every Wednesday lunchtime (1:15-1:40pm) for pupils in S1 to S3. Grab your lunch first and come along to C3 for homework support.

Homework Club (Mrs Patton)
Homework club will be running each Wednesday in C6 from 3:20-4:10pm for all year groups, all subjects.

Equalities Group (Ms Mahr)
Come along and meet the Equalities Group on Wednesday lunchtimes at 1pm (bring your lunch) in C12! Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you all!

S4-S6 Senior Netball (Mrs Little)
Senior netball will run on Wednesday after school in the Games Hall from 3:15-4:30pm. All new and experienced players welcome.

Biology Study Support (Miss Irvine)
Biology study support will now be running every Wednesday after school from 3:30-4:30pm in A1. It is welcome to all S3-S6 Biology students. Hope to see some of you there!

Fashion & Textiles Study Support (Mrs Donaldson)
Wednesday 3:15-5pm in D15 for Higher & N5.

Little Shop of Horrors (Mr McPherson)
Rehearsals are on after school tonight. All cast members check the schedule and attend the rehearsals you are called for. For anyone who put their name down for any other production area, please look out for blue bulletin messages from your team leaders in the coming weeks.
