A team of S2 pupils from Kirkcaldy High School proudly represented the school at the Rivals United event in Dunfermline on Tuesday 22 September, returning home as tournament champions after an excellent day of football, teamwork and positive engagement.

Hosted at Pitreavie Playing Fields and organised through a partnership between the Pars Foundation, Dunfermline Athletic FC, Raith Rovers FC and Police Scotland, the event brought together young people from across Kirkcaldy and West Fife. The aim was to use football as a way of promoting positive relationships, safe decision-making and harm prevention, while encouraging pupils from different communities to come together in a supportive environment.

Our pupils took part in a range of football activities and matches throughout the day, alongside workshops and discussions led by partner organisations. They also had the opportunity to meet football players and engage with representatives from Police Scotland and other youth services.

The Kirkcaldy High team represented the school brilliantly from start to finish. They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, respect and teamwork throughout the competition, supporting one another and playing with determination in every match. Their efforts were rewarded when they finished the day as overall tournament winners.

As well as celebrating their success on the pitch, the pupils were outstanding ambassadors for Kirkcaldy High School. Staff received positive comments about the team’s behaviour, attitude and willingness to engage with the activities on offer.

Congratulations to all the pupils who took part and represented the school so well. We would also like to thank the organisers and partner agencies for delivering such a positive and worthwhile event. It was a fantastic day that highlighted the power of sport to bring young people together, build confidence and create lasting memories.
