SQA Exam Countdown (S4/5/6)
Every day is a chance to improve – only 48 school days to go.

Revision tip of the day:
Don’t compare yourself to others — focus on your own progress.

S4 Study Classes – Monday Period 7 (Mrs Hamilton)
We have made some changes to the study classes based on your prelim results. For some learners, we have moved you to a study class with a teacher in a subject where we feel you would benefit from some additional support.
Please check the glass cabinets at the main entrance to find your new study class and make sure you go there on Monday.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer every subject at this time. However, please look out for other revision opportunities across all subjects — including Friday afternoon sessions, Saturday revision sessions, and Easter school.
Make the most of every opportunity available to you.

S3/U15 Football (Mr Pennel)
All boys who would like to play in the upcoming league match on Tuesday, please attend a meeting at break today in the PE department.

Sport and Physical Activity Survey – Sports Leaders (Mr Harrower)
Could pupils scan the QR code and give feedback on some clubs that you may want to be involved in at KHS?

2025 Design, Engineering and Technology Models (DET Department)
If any pupils who manufactured a model last year in either Design & Manufacture, Practical Metalwork, Practical Woodwork or Jewellery would like to take it home, please come and collect it from DET before 30.01.26.

After this date, old models will be recycled to create space for this year’s projects.

Thank you.

🌿 Community Notice – Please Read! 🚴‍♂️🗑️ (Mrs Duckett)
Opposite the school is The Den and the mountain bike tracks that many of you will know from the Middleden Mountain Bike Club. This area is a really special place – it even includes Scotland’s ONLY dual slalom track! 🏆🌄
Sadly, a huge amount of litter has been found there recently. Over the holidays, thousands of plastic bottles were collected from the paths leading to and from the Shell Garage. 🥤🚯
We’re asking all pupils to take greater responsibility for looking after our community and environment. 🌍💚 If you walk through The Den or use the bike tracks, please make sure you take your rubbish home or use the bins provided. Every small action helps protect this amazing space for everyone. 🙌✨
🧤🌱 Want to help? Join a litter pick!
Mrs Duckett will be organising litter‑picking sessions, and anyone who wants to get involved is very welcome. This could be especially useful for Duke of Edinburgh Award pupils looking for volunteering opportunities! 🥇🤝
Let’s work together to keep The Den clean, safe, and enjoyable for all! 🌲🚴‍♀️💫

Culture Month (Mrs Gibb)
Our country of the month for January is… Lithuania! When you see each other in classes and corridors, please greet each other by saying the word “hello” in that language:  “SVEIKI”

Google Translate

Fact – The people of Lithuania are obsessed with basketball.

Word of the Week (Mrs MacKenzie)

Gallant

Definition: Someone or something described as gallant is very courageous and brave. Gallant is also sometimes used to mean “large and impressive” (as in “a gallant ship”), or to describe someone who has or shows politeness and respect for women.

Example: Though they failed to reach the summit, the mountaineering team made a gallant attempt.

Rights of the Fortnight (Mrs Young)
Article 2:     Non-Discrimination
