Respect for Self, Others, and Learning

96. Blue Bulletin – Wednesday 14/04/21

WEDNESDAY 14 APRIL

Hot Meal: Tomato soup, Chicken korma and rice, naan bread and vegetables.

Lunch/Breaks (D Allan)
Thanks for all your cooperation with the health and safety requirements. We are off to a positive start. To restrict the risk of virus transfer, we have reduced the capacity in the dinner hall. There are now a maximum of three seats to each table and you must not move any of the chairs around. Also, there must be no standing around in groups. Clustering together indoors remains a high risk activity and it would only take one positive case to result in 10 or even 20 people having to miss two weeks of school. For anyone, especially those working on evidence for SQA qualifications, it’s the last thing we want. I think that you should know that we have received notification of quite a few positive tests among young people over the break. A couple of areas of the school (eg outside the assembly hall), where ventilation is particularly poor, are now “out of bounds”. Please take your breaks and have lunch outside whenever possible. Fresh air is one of the best mitigations against virus spread. Best wishes.

Packed Lunches – Assembly Hall (J Davidson)
Where possible please sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air if you bring a packed lunch. The Assembly Hall is available but please note it will be reduced capacity (3 to a table) and windows will be open.

Ramadan Mubarak! (KHS Staff)
KHS would like to give our best wishes to our Muslim students who are starting Ramadan fasting this week. We recognise the determination and strength it takes not to eat or drink during daylight hours all the way up to Eid. Take care and remember to tell a member of staff if you are struggling.

Ramadan 2021 (KHS Equalities Group)
Ramadan Kareem KHS! We would like to support everyone observing Ramadan this year. We realise Ramadan can be a difficult yet reflective time for Muslims so we would like to offer you a little bit of a sanctuary using Ms Mahr’s room in the first instance! If you need some quiet time for reflection or just need some time away from the food in the dinner hall, please head up to C12 during lunch and break for the duration of Ramadan and Ms Mahr will help you out! You are more than welcome to bring friends who are not fasting as well.
