Hello Finland, this is Fife Calling!

Our video call with Helsinge Gymnasium, our partner school in Finland was a truly special moment for Kirkcaldy High School. Around 60 pupils, more than 1,000 miles apart, connected seamlessly in a shared learning experience that showcased the very best of our young people.

Our Learning Ambassadors represented both KHS and Scotland with real distinction. Their thoughtful answers, detailed explanations, and enthusiastic demonstrations made a strong impression. Over the course of the video call, they responded to 20 questions about our school day, language, culture, and even Scottish myths and legends.

We are already planning the next exchange, where our pupils will have the chance to ask the Finnish students their own questions. The excitement in the room today – and the technology that made it all possible – was genuinely inspiring.

Presenting confidently on a webcam isn’t always easy, but our Learning Ambassadors were outstanding. They truly are future leaders in the making.
