Girls into Energy at Fife College
This week, Miss Irvine and 5 S2 pupils attended a Girls in Energy Conference at Fife College.
Supported by Shell UK, the day featured hands on workshops including a Hydrogen Challenge, PV Solar Panel Challenge, STEMovators, a Connecting Tubes Activity with Babcock and a Campus Tour. All activities were designed to inspire the next generation of women into energy and STEM careers, with a strong focus on ambition, opportunity and breaking down barriers.
What the learners didn’t know, was that each group were being secretly graded on their engagement, enthusiasm and participation in the activities. Their efforts resulted in their group winning! The group left the event with goodie bags, certificates and an Amazon gift voucher. Well done girls! 👩🔬
Here’s what the learners had to say about the event:
“We enjoyed everything at this event, but our particular favourite part was when we went to the vision room and mixed with pupils from Woodmill HS to construct a letter of someone’s first name out of tubes and connectors.”
