Getting Chocolaty at the Chocolatarium!

On Friday 12th December, pupils from Miss Nessel’s S4-6 Business Management classes took the train and headed to the Chocolatarium in Edinburgh. We split into 2 groups, with each group rotating round 3 stations. We heard about how chocolate is made and the impact of External factors such as weather/Govern, plus initiatives like Fair Trade on chocolate production.

Everyone got the chance to design and make their own chocolate bar with as many toppings as they liked. Some people even managed a cheeky taste of the chocolate at this point! We then got a talk from the owner of the company who talked about Marketing and how the company can expand their reach. All of these topics tied into pupils class work on Operations and Marketing. The final stop on the tour was a chocolate tasting session…where some of us tried the chilli chocolates on offer.

After the tour was complete, pupils made their own way home, with many choosing to swing by one of the many food establishments in St James Quarter. Everyone enjoyed their day, and enjoyed their own handmade chocolate bar even more!
