Skills for Work – Health Sector

It has been a busy few weeks for Miss Irvine’s Skills for Work “Health Sector” class. Pupils have been learning about what to do in an emergency, such as putting someone in the recovery position, what to do if someone is choking and how to do CardioPulmonary Resuscitation, (CPR).

They also had a visit from Staff Nurse Renfrew from Ward 53 (Respiratory) for a question-and-answer session on what a normal day looks like for a nurse at Victoria Hospital. They asked lots of great questions about what medical devices and pharmaceutical products are used at different stages of a patient’s journey. This allowed them to gather evidence for their upcoming assessment, as well as future career advice within the NHS. A productive session for all!
