Hot Meal: Soup of the day, Roast Chicken in Gravy with Yorkshire Pudding and Oven Roasted Herby Diced Potatoes, Roast Quorn Fillet in Gravy with Herby Diced Potatoes, Fish Fingers or Scottish Breaded Haddock served with Chips. Chicken Fries at breaktime.

S1 Parents’/Carers’ Evening in School on Wednesday 5 November – PEBS (Miss Jack)
The parent/carer on-line booking system is open. Booking system closes at 11:55pm on Sunday 2 November 2025.

School-College Partnership Courses – S5/6 – IMPORTANT  (Mr Fulton)
Pupils who attend college on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons should attend their course today as they restart this week, and not next week as previously stated.  Please see me if you have any questions.

S5/6 UCAS (Mrs Kerek)
All S5/6 pupils planning to apply to University this year should have their UCAS account set up and have entered the buzzword to link their account to KHS. If you have not yet linked your account to the school this should be done as soon as possible, please see your Guidance teacher or a member of the Guidance Team to get the buzzword if you do not yet have it.

Please also remember that first drafts of personal statements should be with your Guidance teacher by Monday 3rd Nov.

Drama club (Mr McPherson)
A reminder to those who signed up for Drama club that we will be having our first rehearsal meeting after school today and this will run between 3:30 and 4:20.

UCAS Applicants (Mrs Kendrick)
All UCAS applicants Draft One of your personal statement is due to your Guidance teacher by Monday 3rd November.  Drafts two and three are due in 17th November and 1st December. It is for you to meet these deadlines and communicate with your guidance teacher if there are any issues. Your UCAS applications are to be sent no later than the Christmas Holidays. Please be aware that any use of AI for any aspect of your statement is strictly prohibited and may jeopardise your place at university if concerns are raised.

Bikes Brought to School (School Janitors)
Can all pupils who cycle to School please use the allocated Bike Cage provided. Bikes left outside this are preventing necessary work being done and are restricting access for Emergency Vehicles. Thank you.

S1 Pantomime Trip (Mrs MacKenzie)
The English Department are running a trip for S1 to our local theatre- Adam Smith- to watch their performance of ‘Aladdin’. The trip will take place on Wednesday 17th December 2025 and will cost £10. There are still a few spots left, so if you would like to go, please see Mrs Mackenzie for a permission slip.

Culture Month (Mrs Gibb)
Over the month of November, we will be celebrating… Turkey! So, “Merhaba” – hello in turkish (click for sound and pronunciation)

Fact of the week – Turkey is famous for the Turkish Delight sweet and the donner kebab.

Definition: Decimate can mean both “to destroy a large number of (plants, animals, people, etc.)” or “to severely damage or destroy a large part of (something).”

Example: The bay’s lobsters have been decimated by disease.

If you enjoy being in nature and would like to be involved with looking after the school garden, then join Gardening Club – Thursday lunchtimes! Meet me at the garden, with your lunch, asap after the bell.

School Nurse Service (School Nursing Team)
The school nurse service runs in Meeting Room 1 every Thursday at break time. You can see them for all issues health related. Please use the QR code below to request an appointment.

Chemistry Study Support (KHS Chemistry Team)
Are you baffled by bonding, addled by atoms, or flummoxed by formulae? If so, Chemistry Study Support is available Thursday after school in A4/A5/A6. Bring all your problems to the lab bench. You could even use it as a quiet space to get some homework done. Everyone is welcome!
Japanese Club (Mrs Morris)
Come and join Mrs Morris in C9 after school for Japanese Club.

FRIDAY 31 OCTOBER

Hot Meal: Soup of the day, Beef Chilli or Veg Chilli served with Rice or Pasta and Chicken Fries all served at breaktime.
