THURSDAY 09 OCTOBER

Hot Meal: Soup of the day, Fish Fingers or Scottish Breaded Haddock served with Chips, Southern Style Chicken Goujon Fajita, Quorn Fajita. Chicken Fries at breaktime.

Dress Down Day (Dr Murray)
Friday is of course a “Dress Down Day”. The usual rules apply – keep it school-sensible, and no football colours. Dress to impress! Please pay £1 period 1, or whatever you can afford.  Donations this year will be put towards the Winter Formal.

House Captains Meeting Today (Mrs Young)  
Can ALL House and Vice House Captains (S1, S3 and S6) attend a meeting period 6 today in B30.

S3 first Chances (Dr Black)
Can all s3 first chances pupils attend a short meeting in A6 at break time.

Paris Trip (Miss Coggill)
Can all pupils who have a place confirmed on the Paris trip please attend an essential meeting today at 1:15  in C7.  Can any pupils who are unable to attend ensure that they make Miss Coggill aware.

Cake Sale (Miss Webster)
there will be a cake sake today at break time at the war memorial for all S1-S6 pupils. Prices will range from 50p – £2.

S1 Pantomime (Mrs MacKenzie)
The English Department are running a trip for S1 to our local theatre- Adam Smith- to watch their performance of ‘Aladdin’. The trip will take place on Wednesday 17th December 2025 and will cost £10. If you would like to go on the trip, please see Mrs Mackenzie (B28) for a permission slip. There are only 100 tickets available so be quick!

Drama club (Mr McPherson)
Do you enjoy creating dramas from scratch or want to get better at acting and performing? Come and join KHS Drama club! First meeting is today at Lunchtime in Mr McPherson’s class (studio 1) at 13:20.

Christmas Fayre – Raffle Donations (Events Team & Mr. Caldwell)
We’re excited to announce the Kirkcaldy High School Christmas Fayre on Tuesday, 16th December 2025, and we’d love your help to make it extra special! We’re putting together a festive raffle to raise funds for local charities, and would be so grateful for any donations – big or small – whether it’s a gift, voucher, or larger prize. Every contribution helps us create a brilliant selection of prizes, and donors will be warmly acknowledged at the event. Donations can be dropped off in D10. You could also email Mr Caldwell, Mr Walsh and or Miss Samfat. Thank you for your generosity and support – we can’t wait to see you at the Fayre! 🎄

S5-S6 Winter Formal Dance (Miss Webster)
The winter formal tickets are back on sale – tickets to be purchased from the office £5 each.
Dates are: Thursday 11th December 7pm – 10pm. Donations can be made to this on Non Uniform Day this Friday 10th October.

Nonchalant

Definition: Someone described as nonchalant is relaxed and calm, either because they do not care about something or because they are not worried about something. Nonchalant can also be used to describe something, such as demeanour or behaviour, that expresses such relaxed, calm unconcern.

Example:  The team showed a somewhat nonchalant attitude at the beginning of the season, but they became more serious once the championship was within reach.

Gardening Club – Thursday Lunchtime (Mrs Brown)
If you enjoy being in nature and would like to be involved with looking after the school garden, then join Gardening Club – Thursday lunchtimes! Meet me at the garden, with your lunch, asap after the bell.

School Nurse Service (School Nursing Team)
The school nurse service runs in Meeting Room 1 every Thursday at break time. You can see them for all issues health related. Please use the QR code below to request an appointment.

Chemistry Study Support (KHS Chemistry Team)
Are you baffled by bonding, addled by atoms, or flummoxed by formulae? If so, Chemistry Study Support is available Thursday after school in A4/A5/A6. Bring all your problems to the lab bench. You could even use it as a quiet space to get some homework done. Everyone is welcome!

Japanese Club (Mrs Morris)
Come and join Mrs Morris in C9 after school for Japanese Club.

FRIDAY 10 OCTOBER
