Rocking the Socks for World Down Syndrome Day

To mark awareness of World Down Syndrome Day staff in Supported Learning (and some members of the Senior Management Team) have been wearing odd socks. The purpose of wearing odd socks is to promote the celebration of differences. The 21st March is a day to not only raise awareness of Down Syndrome but to also advocate for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down Syndrome.

The 21st is significant because it symbolises the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.
