Staff/Pupil Toilets (Mr McKay)
A reminder to learners that the toilets in the staffroom, and those designated as ‘staff only’ are for adult use only. There are a many toilets that young people can use: B block toilets, those at drama, single use toilets across the school, those at DET and PE departments are all in use during the school day. Those in the Quad, between Science and the main building are for use at break and lunch. Thank you for your support.

S1 Football (Mr Geissler)
Can any S1 boys interested in playing for the school football team meet in B7 (Mr MacDonald’s Room) today at break time.

S3 WW1 Battlefields Trip 2025 (Mrs Harrower)
There will be a short meeting today at break in Mrs Harrower’s room (C2) for any S3 pupil interested in going on the 2025 WW1 Battlefields Trip to Belgium and France. Letters will be handed out containing important information about how to secure your place on the trip.

Remembrance and Holocaust Memorial Assemblies – help needed! (Mrs Harrower)
Can anyone who is interested in helping out with the annual Remembrance or Holocaust memorial assemblies, please attend a meeting in Mrs Harrowers room (C2) on Thursday at 1.15pm. We need as much support as possible for these important assemblies – speaking and non-speaking parts so please come along if you are interested. Any questions, speak to Mrs Harrower.

IMPORTANT – Instrumental Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
ALL pupils are responsible for attending their music lesson on time. Tutors will not be collecting pupils from class. Please make sure that you try and reach the side door of Techy before the doors lock. If they do lock, make your way quickly through the canteen and wait until these doors open. Timetables are on your TEAM page as well as in the Music Department. Please take a photo on your phone if you need to and set a reminder. If you have forgotten your instrument or music, you MUST still come to your lesson. Any issues please speak to a member of the music department.

Maths Week Scotland Photography Competition (Mrs Christie)
Maths is part of our daily life, have you ever thought about it? The home, exercise route, daily dog walks and the weekly shop turned into a playground… this is your chance to get creative and make mathematical connections!
Submit your photos with the maths inside sticker on them to enter the competition. You can enter up to three photos, one per category. Entries will be accepted from Sunday 1st September until 11:59pm on Monday 30th September 2024, with an online prize ceremony at 11am on Saturday 2nd November.  The two categories are:

Maths in the wild
The ‘why’ of shapes.

University of Edinburgh Engineering Talks (Dr. Murray)
Are you curious about studying Engineering at Edinburgh? If you enjoy solving problems and being part of a team, are interested in how things work and like science and maths, then a degree in Engineering could be for you! Join the online interactive sessions starting 23rd September. This is your chance to:

  • talk with academics, students and recent graduates
  • learn about the programmes and opportunities open to you
  • get answers to all your questions

S1-S3 Japanese Visitors (Mrs Morris)
Attention all S1-S3 we are hosting Japanese visitors on Friday 27th September if you wish to come along, please scan the QR code below to register your interest by Friday 20th September. A list of invited pupils will be displayed outside Mrs Morris room C9 on Tuesday 24th September, and will also be included in the bulletin.

First Aid Course (Mrs Hume)
Any S6 who wishes to sign up for the Emergency First Aid at Work course should do so using the QR code below. The course will take place all day on 25th October and if you sign up you will need to stay in school until 3pm to complete it. More information can be found on the S5/6 year group team or from Mrs Hume.

S5/S6 EMA Applications 2024/25 (Mrs Cook)
EMA Applications Forms can now only be accessed and completed online at www.fife.gov.uk/ema If successful an EMA Learning Agreement will be posted out to your home address. Please complete form and return to Mrs Cook in the school office.  If you have applied and been approved for EMA, please bring your completed Learning Agreement to the school office. We cannot proceed with any payments until this has been done. If you have still to apply, please do this as soon as you can. Any applications received by Fife Council after the 4th October 2024 cannot be backdated and you will only be paid from the date the application is received.  Please remember you also need to make a new application each academic year.

S6 LEAVERS HOODIES (Miss Lipton)
Reminder that all S6 Leavers Hoodies must be ordered & paid in full before Friday 13th September. Please see Miss Lipton for sizing – these cannot be returned so what you order you get. Payments to be made via iPayimpact or cash at the office – total cost is £21.

School Netball (Mrs Little)
School netball is for all age groups, where you will have the opportunity to train on a weekly basis and compete in competitive matches against other schools. All school netball is FREE and there are no match fees.  S3 – S6 will train on Wednesday night 3:30 – 4:15pm

KHS Radio Show on K107FM (Dr Murray) 📻
We present a weekly show on Kirkcaldy’s radio station, K107FM every Wednesday. You could be involved. We meet every Wednesday in A4 (Dr Murray’s room in Science) to plan the show. Come along and bring your lunch! See Dr M for a lunch/building pass.

Anime and Manga Club (Ms Kelsey)
Anime and Manga club will be on a Wednesday lunchtime in B29.

THURSDAY 12 SEPTEMBER

KHS D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) Group (Dr Murray/Miss Collins)
The KHS D&D Group meets in D2 (Home Ec) every Thursday after school. Take part in exciting adventures and storytelling. It’s all up to the fate of the dice!

Chess Club (Dr Black)
Chess club runs Thursday lunchtimes in A6, 1:10-1:40pm. Beginners to Grand master’s welcome. Collect a lunchtime pass from Dr Black if you would like to come along.

Together We Can Group (Miss Johnston)
Together We Can group is on after school, Thursdays in the PE department from 3:30-4:15

Equality Group (Dr Murray)
The KHS Equality Group meets every Thursday lunchtime in A4. Anyone who is interested in any aspect of equality is welcome whether it be age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. See Dr Murray for a pass. Bring you lunch!
