Today we had 3 different sessions at the Fife Leisure Centre. My group’s first session was learning how to perform CPR and a bit of lifeguarding. We started off by practicing on how to do the recovery position on a partner, then we learned how to perform CPR on a mannequin. These skills are not only useful for lifeguarding, but can also be very useful in your daily life.
Secondly, we worked in the gym. We began with a circuit training type of warm up, this included:
-
Stretching arms and wrists thoroughly
-
Squats
-
Push ups
Then we continued on with the circuit training workout, we did 5 sets of this, we used a barbell for some of the exercises, we did:
-
Squats with a barbell on our shoulders
-
Lunges with a barbell
We went into the gym and did some more weight training and some cardio on the pedal bikes.
Next, we had a break for lunch, we sat in the games hall for this. We had the HR Manager come and speak to us to ask for any feedback we had.
Lastly, we had an amazing opportunity to do a separate session that we didn’t know was available to begin with, it was an admin type session. We went to the managers office and learnt all about what happens behind the scenes with paperwork, spreadsheets etc. After that we quickly got some group photos and thanked all of the staff. Overall I can definitely say I had a great time today, doing new things with this great opportunity.
