Our Higher Chemists were back at Fife College this week to learn about chromatography. Here’s what they thought about it!
I found the workshop really entertaining and learning about the different types of chromatography. I learned that you have to be extremely careful when taking off your gloves to prevent any chemicals on your hands. (KM, S5)
Thank you Dawn and Grant for providing an intuitive and exciting experience for us. We learned a lot about how real labs work on a day-to-day basis and had enjoyed experiencing industry grade lab equipment. (AK, S5)
I left there with an understanding of chromatography and the whole process of how to do a chromatography experiment, the practical experience let us understand what labs are really like, the setting and the safety hazards. Overall was very informative! (HA, S5)
I really enjoyed my experience at Fife college were we did a session on chromatography. We learnt about the different stages in chromatography and got to see how chromatography works on a bigger scale in a proper lab. We learned 2 types of chromatography those being gas and paper, I found both sets really interesting and really good fun. (EW, S5)
I enjoyed the workshop as I got to learn about different types of chromatography and how they work. I got to learn how they were completed properly using the correct techniques. (KM, S5)
I learnt that after every experiment you do you should take your lab coat off, remove your gloves without touching your hands then wash your hands after so you don’t contaminate anything. (HM, S5)
