In June, we participated in the ‘Emergency First Aid at Work’ course delivered by Fast Training Armadale. This was funded by Friends of Kirkcaldy High School for S5/6 students in which 48 of us participated.
This course taught us many lifesaving skills, such as: the recovery position, how to bandage a wound, CPR and how to use a defibrillator, how to identify a stroke, the Heimlich, how to help someone having a seizure and many others. This experience improved our problem-solving skills and the ability to survey a situation under pressure where you must act fast. We all thoroughly enjoyed this interesting course and gained a SCQF Level 6 Unit qualification, which will also help us throughout our careers and be a very beneficial and valuable qualification to have.
