WEDNESDAY 28 JUNE

Hot Meal: Soup of the day, Chicken korma or Vegetable korma, boiled rice and naan bread.

Hot Meal Menu (Miss Lister)
Thursday 29 June will be fish and chip day instead of the Friday. Friday 30 June will now be steak pie. The rest of the menu will stay the same. This is only for this week.

Talent Show Rehearsals (Liam Ritchie, S6)
Thank you to all who auditioned for the talent show last week. We would like all those who are confirmed to be in the show to meet Friday first period in the Hall for a full rehearsal. Any questions or concerns, please speak to Miss Samfat who will forward your questions on to us.

Prefect Duties (PLT)
Following the prefect meeting yesterday, please complete the following form (take your time to do it carefully).

S5/S6 EMA Applications 2023/24 (Mrs Cook)
Any S5/6 pupils who may be eligible for EMA can apply on the Fife Council website around the middle of July. If successful, an EMA Learning Agreement will be posted out to your home address. Please complete form and return to Mrs Cook in the office. Please note – if you were eligible last year you have to re-apply.

Fitzgerald Trust Award Scheme (Mrs McNab)
Applications for this funding are welcomed from all S5 & S6 pupils residing in Kirkcaldy. You will receive instructions via Tutor on how to apply. All applications will be done online this year by using the link or QR code provided. Please submit applications by 8 September 2023.

Guess the number of sweets in the jar (Miss Coggill)
There will be pupils visiting classes this week raising money for our upcoming Paris 2024 trip. We will be running a guess the number of sweets in the jar (all placed in the jar by myself whilst wearing gloves) competition and one lucky winner who is closest to the amount inside the jar will get to keep it. If anyone is interested in taking part, please try and bring change this week. The winner will be announced on Friday. Bonne chance !

Music Lessons (Mrs Duckett)
All pupils receiving lessons from Fife Music Service must use the Instrument Drop-Off Room (first practice room on right) to store their instrument for the day. Instruments are not to be left lying about in any of the music classrooms or E11.

S6 Hoodies (Miss Lipton)
Please remember to submit your S6 Leaver Hoodie order – £20 each – £5 deposit required to secure.

DYW Padlet (Mr Dick)
A lot of pupils will be looking to gain some work experience, this is a great opportunity to give you a flavour of the world of work and ‘try out’ a profession. If this is something, you are interested in there is a form to complete on the Padlet. There is also a great opportunity for any S5 pupils who are looking to study medicine. For anyone looking to leave school there are a number of vacancies including – apprenticeships in Admin, at Scotrail, Exxon, Babcock and Sky Television advertised. As well as a range of part and full time jobs.

Speak to Mr Dick if you require any help with applications, finding jobs or want some work experience.

Equalities Group (Dr Murray)
The Equality Group exists to tackle all sorts of inequality such as sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, disablism, and other variations. Joining this group is a great way to actually change things at KHS. We meet in A4 every Wednesday lunchtime. Bring your lunch!

S2-S3 Maths Support Group (Mr Jones)
Need help with maths homework? Stuck on something you’ve looked at in lessons? Come along to the S1-S3 maths support group, every Wednesday lunchtime (1:05-1:40pm). Bring your lunch, bring your questions.

Guitar Ensemble (Mrs Simpson)
The Guitar Ensemble will take place on Wednesday lunchtime in E13.

Skill Toy Club (Mrs Duckett)
Skill toy club will take place in E10 every lunchtime.

Lessons are on today in the Music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board.

S2-S3 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

String Group (Mrs Simpson)
The String Group will take place on Thursday lunchtime in E13.

Calm Colouring Lunch Club (Ms Geddes/Miss Millar)
If you would like a calm space to have lunch and do a bit of colouring, with the option to chat through any questions with our Mental Health Ambassadors, then this is the club for you! Head along to A3 (Science) where Miss Millar and Ms Geddes will have all the resources you need to chill out and recharge for the afternoon ahead. Today from 1:10pm.

Gardening Club – Thursday Lunch (Mrs Brown)
If you enjoy a bit of gardening, and you’d like to help to maintain and improve our school garden, then please bring your lunch and meet me in the Serenity Garden, and/ or meet me after school 3:20-3:50pm. Gardening is a great way to relax and learn new skills.

Skill Toy Club (Mrs Duckett)
Skill toy club will take place in E10 every lunchtime.

Girls’ Rugby (Ms McMahon)
Meet Thursday after school 3:30pm at PE. Wear PE kit for outdoors and astro shoes if you have them.
