Upper Stings Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
There are no upper string lessons today as Miss Ranieri is off, however, string group will still be on at lunchtime in the usual.

Premier League Meeting – Manchester Derby (Mr I’Anson)
There will be a meeting today at break in E2. All must attend.

UCAS Sign Up (Mrs Sim)
A reminder to those applying to university for September 2023 entry, you will be expected to attend the following classrooms to register for the UCAS website and start your applications period 1 today (29 September). See Mrs Sim if you are unable to attend for any reason. Important information will be shared.

S3 First Chances (Mr Dick)
Can all S3 First Chances pupils please attend a meeting in A5 today at Interval to discuss the Trip to Dunfermline on Thursday 6 October. Attendance is essential.

S6 House Leaders (Miss Lipton)
Can all House Leaders attend a meeting in Miss Lipton’s room (D9) today at lunchtime at 1:15pm to discuss upcoming house events & tutor meets.

Investment Challenge (Mrs Wood)
For all S5/6 pupils who want to test their skills in a competitive business and financial challenge across Scotland. The Investment Challenge is a chance to work in a team to grow a virtual investment fund, making decisions on what stocks and shares to buy and sell based on research from incoming news stories. Teams will compete against other schools from the east of Scotland. Meet in Mrs Wood’s room, Business Education D10, Friday 30 September at lunchtime at 1:20pm.

S3-S6 Future Asset Competition (Miss Nessel)
If you signed up for the competition, please attend a meeting on Wednesday 5 October at 1:10pm with Miss Nessel. This is a one off meeting to get us going with the competition. If you have another club on this date, please make an arrangement to catch up with that club at a later time. We can then set a regular meeting day/time at the meeting. Please also bring your permission slips with you. These were emailed to your Glow accounts a few weeks ago. 1 of you has returned them so far…

S6 Prom (Miss Lipton)
Prom deposits can now be paid from via iPayimpact preferably or cash at the till. Min £10 to be paid before the end of term.

Pupil Learning Council (Mrs Hamilton)
At Kirkcaldy High School we are keen to give learners the opportunity to have a real say in issues that affect them and to know that their opinions count. Being part of the KHS Learning Council, will allow you to express your opinions and have your views considered in terms of the curriculum and learning, teaching and assessment. We believe that our learners are the experts on how you learn best, and this is your chance to be heard. Being part of the Learning Council will improve your leadership and communication skills and it is a fantastic opportunity to represent your peers in helping to improve our school. The Learning Council is likely to meet a couple of times per month and it is likely to be during lunch time. If you would like to be part of the Learning Council, please scan this QR code and complete a short form by Friday 7 October. There is also a copy of the QR code outside guidance and outside Mrs Hamilton’s office.

S5-S6 EMA (Mrs Cook)
If you have applied and been approved for EMA, please bring you completed Learning Agreement to the school office. We cannot proceed with any payments until this has been done. If you have still to apply, please do this as soon as you can. Any applications received by Fife Council after 30 September 2022 cannot be backdated and you will only be paid from the date the application is received. Please remember you also need to make a new application each academic year.

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
Padlet has a few local jobs such as many seasonal workers at the Retail Park if you are looking for a part time job.
S5 pupils are invited to apply for Career Ready – an opportunity to get career input and mentoring from a local business. This will lead to 4 weeks paid employment next summer and the chance to build upon your employability skills. If you are interested, please speak to Mrs Whyte in C13. More information on the padlet.

Paige’s Musical Butterflies (Mrs Wood)
Paige Dougall’s family have set up a charity called ‘Paige’s Musical Butterflies’ in her memory. You can purchase charity merchandise in the PSO base until the end of this term. At the end of term, we will be having a dress down day which will raise funds for the charity.

Hispanic Heritage Month (Alisha Ahmad – Equalities Group)
From the 15 September to 15 October, it is Hispanic Heritage Month. If you have time in tutor over the next month you might want to ask your teacher to watch the following video (or you could watch yourself) which explain Hispanic Heritage Month and the history behind it. You’ll want to watch from the start up to 3 minutes 30 seconds.

This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

String Group (Mrs Simpson)
The String Group will take place on Thursday lunchtime in E13.

S1 & S2 Netball (Mrs Steedman)
All S1 and S2 girl’s interested in playing netball this year, training will be afterschool every Thursday starting this week from 3:30-4:15pm.

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

Card Club (Mrs Rae)
Come along to the PSO base at lunchtime to play various card games and make new friends. Maybe your friends are off, and you have nowhere to go or you see yourself as a real “card shark” all are very welcome!

Wind Band (Mrs Simpson)
The Wind Band will take place on Friday lunchtime in E13/Dance Studio.

Health Zone Drop In (J Davidson)
Every Friday lunchtime, the school nurse team run a confidential drop in session. They are situated behind the careers room opposite the main office.

Have Lunch with A Hero! (Mrs Brown)
Classics lunchtime Film Club will be starting up on Fridays featuring all the great movies about heroes like Percy Jackson, Hercules and Perseus. All new members welcome. Bring a packed lunch to C11 at the start of lunch, if you’d like to watch the film.
