S3 Parents’/Carers’ Evening In School – Wednesday 28 September – PEBS (Mrs Noone)
The parent/carer on-line booking system closes this evening at 11:55pm.

S2 First Chances (Mr Dick)
Can all pupils who are attending the S2 First Chances Trip on Wednesday. Please Attend a short meeting at Morning Interval today in A5. Attendance is essential.

S2 Football Training (Mr Geissler)
Could all boys involved with S2 football training meet in B2 (Mr Geissler’s Room) at break time.

S6 Prom Committee (Miss Hay)
Can all S6 who are interested in getting involved in the Prom Committee this year please attend a meeting today at 1:15pm in E5 – feel free to bring your lunch.

S6 Yearbook (Miss Lipton)
Reminder the Yearbook Committee will meet after school today (Tuesday 27 Sep) in D9. We also welcome any S6 who are struggling with their parting word statements to come along after school to get support with these.

Girls’ Football (Mrs Steedman)
There will be no training after school today as the senior team have a game in Madras.

S3-S6 Future Asset Competition Teams (Miss Nessel)
If you signed up to the competition, please attend a one off welcome session on Tuesday in Miss Nessel’s room at lunch. The meeting starts at 1pm. So please make sure you bring your lunch with you for the event. If you need to have a school lunch, Miss Nessel know.

S6 House Leaders (Miss Lipton)
Can all House Leaders attend a meeting in Miss Lipton’s room (D9) on Thursday lunchtime at 1:15pm to discuss upcoming house events & tutor meets.

S6 Prom (Miss Lipton)
Prom deposits can now be paid from via iPayimpact preferably or cash at the till. Min £10 to be paid before the end of term.

Pupil Learning Council (Mrs Hamilton)
At Kirkcaldy High School we are keen to give learners the opportunity to have a real say in issues that affect them and to know that their opinions count. Being part of the KHS Learning Council, will allow you to express your opinions and have your views considered in terms of the curriculum and learning, teaching and assessment. We believe that our learners are the experts on how you learn best, and this is your chance to be heard. Being part of the Learning Council will improve your leadership and communication skills and it is a fantastic opportunity to represent your peers in helping to improve our school. The Learning Council is likely to meet a couple of times per month and it is likely to be during lunch time. If you would like to be part of the Learning Council, please scan this QR code and complete a short form by Friday 7th October. There is also a copy of the QR code outside guidance and outside Mrs Hamilton’s office.

Investment Challenge (Mrs Wood)
For all S5/6 pupils who want to test their skills in a competitive business and financial challenge across Scotland. The Investment Challenge is a chance to work in a team to grow a virtual investment fund, making decisions on what stocks and shares to buy and sell based on research from incoming news stories. Teams will compete against other schools from the east of Scotland. Meet in Mrs Wood’s room, Business Education D10, Friday 30 September at lunchtime at 1:20pm.

S6 UCAS Sessions (Mrs Sim)
S6 applying to UCAS (and any S5 intending on applying early for next September), please scan the QR code below to register for the two events next week that you must attend if you plan on applying. Tuesday period 6 you will be attending a session from Lift Off to help you with your personal statements, and then Thursday period 1 you will be signing up for the UCAS website. See Mrs Sim if you have any questions.

S5-S6 EMA (Mrs Geddes)
If you have applied and been approved for EMA, please bring you completed Learning Agreement to the school office. We cannot proceed with any payments until this has been done. If you have still to apply, please do this as soon as you can. Any applications received by Fife Council after 30 September 2022 cannot be backdated and you will only be paid from the date the application is received. Please remember you also need to make a new application each academic year.

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
This week’s Padlet has been updated, there are lots of local businesses looking for employees – Fife Ice Arena, Spiral Weave, Costa, Fife Leisure. Applications for apprenticeships have just opened at Babcock International – with a range of roles available. Other apprenticeships include administration, engineering and shipbuilding. A date for the diary is 29 November where there will be over 30 local employers attending our Careers Fair.

Paige’s Musical Butterflies (Mrs Wood)
Paige Dougall’s family have set up a charity called ‘Paige’s Musical Butterflies’ in her memory. You can purchase charity merchandise in the PSO base until the end of this term. At the end of term, we will be having a dress down day which will raise funds for the charity.

Hispanic Heritage Month (Alisha Ahmad – Equalities Group)
From the 15 September to 15 October, it is Hispanic Heritage Month. If you have time in tutor over the next month you might want to ask your teacher to watch the following video (or you could watch yourself) which explain Hispanic Heritage Month and the history behind it. You’ll want to watch from the start up to 3 minutes 30 seconds.

Lower Strings and Bass Guitar Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
Lessons are on today in the Music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board.

LGBT+ Group (LGBT+ Committee)
The legendary Kirkcaldy High LGBT+ Group meets at lunchtime TODAY! This group is for anyone of any identity including allies. Dr Murray’s classroom (A4) is the place to be and all are welcome. You can make badges, play with “fidget toys” and chat about any topic with like-minded people.
We are running a competition to re-decorate our LGBT+ noticeboards. You could contribute a picture, a poem, a short story, a poster, or any other creative medium you fancy. You can do these at the LGBT+ Tuesday group meeting or in your own time. Hand your contributions to Dr Murray in A4 – prizes to be won!

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

S1-S6 Badminton Club (Mr Harrower)
Badminton Club will be on afterschool today in the Games Hall 3:30-4:15pm. All pupils are welcome.

S1-S6 Basketball Club (Mr Harrower)
Basketball Club will be on afterschool today in the gyms 3:30-4:15pm. All pupils are welcome.

Biology Study Support (Miss Irvine)
Study support sessions are now on after school on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15pm in A1. All levels welcome.

KHS Choir! (Mrs Duckett)
Open to everyone, no auditions! After school on Tuesdays with Mrs Duckett in E10.

S1-S3 Maths Support Group (Mr Jones)
Need help with maths homework? Stuck on something you’ve looked at in lessons?
Come along to the S1-S3 maths support group, every Wednesday lunchtime (1:05-1:40pm). Bring your lunch, bring your questions.

Guitar Ensemble (Mrs Simpson)
The Guitar Ensemble will take place on Wednesday lunchtime in E13.

S1-S2 BSL (British Sign Language) Club (Mrs Kerek)
Come along and learn basic level BSL to be able to communicate with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Come and learn to sign in a friendly and informal setting in at 1:15-1:40pm in C8 every Wednesday – You are welcome to bring a cold lunch with you.

S3 & Senior Netball (Mrs Steedman)
All S3 pupils and Senior pupils (S4, S5 & S6) interested in playing netball this year, training will be afterschool every Wednesday from 3:30-4:15pm.
