Application forms are available at reception for S5 and S6 pupils. Closing Date – Friday 9 September 2022.

S5-S6 EMA (Mrs Geddes)
If you have applied and been approved for EMA, please bring you completed Learning Agreement to the school office. We cannot proceed with any payments until this has been done. If you have still to apply, please do this as soon as you can. Any applications received by Fife Council after 30 September 2022 cannot be backdated and you will only be paid from the date the application is received. Please remember you also need to make a new application each academic year.

U15 Football (Mr Pennel)
All under 15 footballers who would like to be selected for an upcoming league match please attend a meeting today at break in the Boy’s Gym.

S3-6 Girls (Miss Nessel)
If you are interested in Business, Accounting or Finance, we are running a competition where we ask teams of S3/4 and S5/6 Girls to investigate companies and decide which ones could become big business in the next few years. You will get to share your findings with industry professionals, and if they like your ideas, you can win vouchers for our school, as well as £250 for each member of the team. You choose your own teams and we can have multiple teams entered. If you want to get involved, come along to an information session on today at break in D8.

Badminton & Basketball Clubs (Mr Harrower)
Both the Badminton and Basketball clubs will be cancelled afterschool today due to a staff meeting. Both clubs will resume next week.

S2 Football Training (Mr Geissler)
S2 football training will take place Wednesday after school on the Astroturf. Meet in the PE department for a 3:30pm start.

S1 & S2 Netball (Mrs Steedman)
All S1 and S2 girl’s interested in playing netball this year training will be afterschool every Thursday starting this week from 3:30-4:15pm.

S3 & Senior Netball (Mrs Steedman)
All S3 pupils and Senior pupils (S4-S6) interested in playing netball this year, training will be afterschool every Wednesday starting next week (7th) from 3:30-4:15pm.

Medicine, Dentistry and Vet Med Applicants 2023 (Mrs Sim)
Please can those S6 applying for the above courses for September 2023 entry attend a meeting with Mrs Sim on Friday 2 September at 1:15pm in the Boardroom.

MVP Mentors Meeting (Miss Dalziel)
All pupils who volunteered to be an MVP Mentor before the summer holidays should attend a meeting at the end of the Year Group Assembly, in the Assembly Hall on Friday 2 September. Information will be shared to all pupils.

S6 Leadership Award (Ms Bruce)
If you signed up for the Leadership Award during the S6 Induction days in June, you have been added to the Leadership Award TEAM on Glow. If you think you have been added in error, please let me know. If you are in S6 and would like to undertake this award, there is still time to get signed up, just pop along to Studio 4 if you would like any more information about it. The first task/assignment will be issued this week.

Fife Shakespeare Festival (Ms Bruce)
There is still time to get involved in the Fife Shakespeare Festival, this year we will be performing a 30 minute version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Group auditions will take place on Wednesday afterschool 3.15-4.30pm so please come along if you’d like to take part!

S4-S6 Reach Programme (Miss Nessel)
Are you interested in studying any of the following subjects at college or University once you leave school?

  • Economics & Finance
  • Management
  • Medicine
  • Psychology & Neuroscience

If so, you can sign up to the Reach programme with St Andrews University to get subject taster days in these fields and the chance to find out more about what studying these subjects at college or Uni involves. Even if you are not studying subjects linked to these areas right now, you can still up and take part in the events. This is really important when it comes to competitive degrees like medicine.

DYW Padlet (Mrs Whyte)
The DYW Padlet has been updated – there are lots of new opportunities available including apprenticeships in engineering, mechanics, admin and retail. As well as some local part time jobs. We have several events and work experiences coming up – if you need any help with anything work related please speak to Mrs Whyte in C13 or Anne and Eve, the Careers Advisors.

Street Theatre at Fife Pride, Saturday 17 September 2022 (Dr Murray)
Fife Pride are working with Surge Scotland to produce some street theatre performance for the Pride on the Saturday 17 September 2022. This is a really exciting opportunity for ANYONE who has an interest in drama and performance. There’s more info on the Fife Pride website. See Dr Murray if you’re interested!

Lower Strings and Bass Guitar Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
Lessons are on today in the Music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board.

LGBT+ Group (LGBT+ Committee)
The legendary Kirkcaldy High LGBT+ Group meets at lunchtime TODAY! This group is for anyone of any identity including allies. Dr Murray’s classroom (A4) is the place to be and all are welcome. You can make badges, play with “fidget toys” and chat about any topic with like-minded people.
We are running a competition to re-decorate our LGBT+ noticeboards. You could contribute a picture, a poem, a short story, a poster, or any other creative medium you fancy. You can do these at the LGBT+ Tuesday group meeting or in your own time. Hand your contributions to Dr Murray in A4 – prizes to be won!

S2-S4 Music Lunch Club (Mrs Duckett)
This now takes place in E10 every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

WEDNESDAY 31 AUGUST

Come along to the S1-S3 maths support group, every Wednesday lunchtime (1:05-1:40pm). Bring your lunch, bring your questions.

The Guitar Ensemble will take place on Wednesday lunchtime in E13.
