MONDAY 21 FEBRUARY

Hot Meal: Broccoli soup, Italian meatballs with spaghetti, vegetables or Cheese panini and salad.

National 5 & Higher Dance Prelim (Miss Kirkwood)
The Assembly Hall will be out of bounds until lunch due to the National 5 and Higher Dance Prelim taking place. Please use an alternative route to get to class and be as quiet as possible when passing the assembly hall.

Basketball Club (Mr Harrower)
Basketball Club is cancelled after school today.

S2 Football (Mr Pennel)
Training is cancelled tonight as there is another game on after school.

S1/S2 First Chances Trip (Miss Nessel)
All pupils going on this trip should attend tutor as normal on Tuesday. Then meet outside the assembly hall Period 1. All staff attending the trip will meet you there and take you down to the buses. You should be in full school uniform, with your packed lunches. If you are entitled to Free School Meals, I have ordered your packed lunch from the kitchens and will have this with me.

Mental Health Ambassadors and Hub (Miss Hay)
From today we are making changes to our Mental Health Hub. This will no longer take place each lunchtime in the library. Our ambassadors will now be embedded in the different extra-curricular clubs we have on offer which can support our mental health. The ambassador role is to peer-educate about mental health and signpost you to support we have available in school. We will keep you updated on the clubs our ambassadors will be attending and will see some of you in Social Education soon. Thank you!

Purple Friday (LGBT+/Equality Groups)
As part of LGBT+ History Month, we’re celebrating “Purple Friday” on Friday (obviously). It’s NOT a “Dress Down Day” but an opportuity to wear a purple item of clothing, badge, ribbon etc. to show your support for equality and diversity at KHS. Wear purple with pride! 🏳️‍🌈

S4-6 First Chances Pupils (Miss Nessel)
We know that some First Chances Fife pupils may lack a safe, quiet space to study, so would like to offer this at Fife College. We have quiet areas, areas for group work and pcs.

We’d like to invite pupils to the college campus every Monday evening as follows. Pupils can arrive and leave at any time during the session, and should just go to reception on arrival. The session is for self-study, and all Kirkcaldy High Schools are invited. Sessions won’t run during the April holidays.

St Brycedale Campus: 4pm–6:30pm

Science Research Placements (Dr Murray)
Dr Murray has an opportunity for folk in S5 to spend some time during the summer working in REAL science/engineering labs. This would obviously be a great opportunity for anyone looking to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths subjects beyond school. See Dr Murray if you’re interested! Yearbook (Mrs Czudek)
Anyone wishing to buy a yearbook – the full cost is £20. The full amount must be paid by 28 February. All payments must be made through iPayimpact. If you need any assistance in setting up the payment please come and see Mrs Czudek in CDT.

Sutton Trust Applications – S5 Pupils (Miss Fotheringham)
S5 pupils who are planning on applying to university, you have the opportunity to apply for a week long Sutton Trust Summer School where you will experience student life at one of the UK’s top universities. Lessons are on today in the music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board in E11.

TUESDAY 22 FEBRUARY

LGBT+ Group (LGBT+ Committee)
The legendary and amazing LGBT+ Group meets every Tuesday lunchtime in A4 (Dr Murray’s room in Science) for anyone who wants to have a nice place to sit and enjoy their lunch, get to know other people, make badges and make keyrings. EVERYONE and ANYONE is welcome, hope to see you there!

KHS Community Choir (Mrs Duckett)
This will run on Tuesdays after school in the Assembly Hall, 3:15-4:15pm.

Badminton Club (Mr Harrower)
Badminton club will be on afterschool on Tuesday in the Games Hall (3:15-4:15pm). All pupils from S1-S6 are welcome to attend.

S1 Football (Mr Pennel)
S1 football will run on Tuesday afterschool (3:30-4:30pm). Training will be on the Astro so bring appropriate footwear if possible.

Girls’ Football (Miss Steedman)
Girls’ football training will run on Tuesday afterschool (3:30-4:15pm). Everyone interested in playing in S1 and S2 is welcome along.
