Rector’s Message (Mr Allan)
Best wishes for the weekend everyone. Thank you for respecting the “givens”; dress code, face masks, phones, earphones and chewing. It helps everyone when we have consistent standards. Please bring your own personal face covering next week and test for Covid over the weekend. If are not vaccinated yet, please arrange the jag. It makes our school safer. Take care.

Yeargroup Meetings in the Hall (Mr Allan)
These take place on Wednesday and Thursday next week and we will have a focus on the “givens”; dress code, mobiles, earphones, chewing gum and face masks. Let’s work consistently together to support better learning for all. Thank you.

Craft Club (Mrs Patton)
Congratulations to the Craft Club on a sell-out Halloween Fair this Wednesday and thank you to everyone that took part and came along to support the group. All funds will go in to purchasing more crafty supplies.

Woodwind Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
No woodwind lessons today but wind band is still on. There will be lessons on Monday so please check Teams for your time.

S3 First Chances (Mrs Dempsey)
Can all S3 pupils who are involved in the First Chances come to A18 at some point today to collect their Log Books from Mrs Dempsey.

The School Mock Court Project (Miss Osborne)
Any pupils interested in the above project, please speak to Miss Osborne in B17 ASAP!

Senior Boys’ Football (Mr English)
All boys interested in playing for KHS in the upcoming Scottish Shield tie v Carnoustie must attend a meeting at break today in the Boys’ Gym.

S1 Football (Mr Pennel)
If you would like to be considered to play in the upcoming Scottish Cup match against Perth Grammar next week, please attend a meeting at break today in the Boys’ Gym.

Have Lunch with A Hero! (Mrs Brown)
Starting today – Percy Jackson film two. Evil Luke is back and he’s up to more trouble. All are welcome to Classics Film club in C11. Bring a packed lunch and see the hero Percy Jackson in action.

S6 SE – UCAS Personal Statement Support (Miss Fotheringham)
Napier University are offering a session to support you writing your UCAS personal statement. This will be on Tuesday 2 November, period 6/7 in Mr Paterson’s classroom. Adam Smith and Oswald pupils will attend period 6 and Carlyle pupils will attend period 7. Please see the lists outside the guidance base to check what period you are attending. If you are not on a list see Miss Fotheringham and I will add you in.

S4-S6 Edinburgh University – YourEd Senior Phase Programme – Applications Now Open! (Mr Paterson)
The University of Edinburgh’s YourEd project is again accepting new students onto their senior phase project! The Senior Phase project is designed to support students who have aspirations to go to university and those who are unsure if university is for them. By signing up to YourEd, you will receive a range of sessions, support and opportunities throughout the school year to increase your understanding of University and help prepare you for applying.

The YourEd programme will involve:
Meeting alumni from your school currently studying at UoE for a realistic insight into what university is actually like:
Personal statement one on one support
Mentoring
Chance to meet students from other schools with similar aspirations
Advice, information and guidance to support you in your progression towards university

The programme starts on the 15 November. So, if you are interested, please scan the QR Code below to register, or come and speak to Mr Paterson in B11 ASAP for more information about the programme and to book your place!

LGBT+ Social (LGBT+ Committee)
We will be having an LGBT+ Social on Sunday 7 November 10:00am-2:00pm here at KHS. This is an opportunity to meet folk involved in LGBT+ and Equality Groups from schools around Fife. Food will be available and ALL ARE WELCOME! See Dr Murray if you’re interested! 🏳️‍🌈

LGBT Youth Scotland Survey (LGBT+ Group)

LGBT Youth Scotland is undertaking research to find out what life in Scotland is like for LGBTI young people. If you are aged 13-25, identify as LGBTI, and live in Scotland, they are interested in hearing about your experiences. You can complete the survey on-line – the QR code will take you to it! 🏳️‍🌈

Lessons are on today in the music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board in E11.

Wind Group (Mrs Simpson)
Wind group is on today in E13. Please bring your lunch and be ready to play for 1:15pm.

Health Zone (School Nurse)
You can access the confidential drop in service for any reason at all, including support with sexual health and contraception. The nurses also offer mental health support and will “signpost” to other services. This will run today at lunchtime behind Community Use.

MONDAY 1 NOVEMBER

Hot Meal: Carrot and lentil soup, Italian meatballs with spaghetti, vegetables or Chicken rollover/Hot dog and salad.

Percussion Lessons (Mrs Simpson)
Lessons are on today in the music department. You can find your time on Teams or on the department timetable board in E11.

Basketball Club (Mr Harrower)
Basketball club will run on Monday afterschool (3:15-4:15pm) in the Games Hall.

S1 Netball (Mrs Little)
S1 netball will run after school on Monday in the Girls’ Gym from 3:15-4:15pm. Please bring a change of PE kit and water.

S2 Football (Mr Pennel)
S2 Football will run on Monday afterschool (3:30-4:30pm). Training will be on the grass so bring appropriate footwear if possible.
