Our Nursery Areas
King’s Road Nursery has a large open plan shared area for children ages 3 to 5. Due to ongoing risk assessment requirements we currently have 3 rooms:
- Bumble Bees
- Butterflies
- Lady Bugs
The children are encouraged to explore the whole nursery and are able to travel between the main nursery rooms and our shared outdoor space. We make good use of the school playground and regularly move around the school to go to the gym hall or to do Kodaly (music) and drama. The children are super at walking in the corridors so as not to disturb any of the classes we pass.
Our Under 3 Provision (Caterpillars)
Our Under 3s room can accommodate a maximum of 10 children per session. The staff have created a nurturing and stimulating environment in order to provide vital experiences for our 2 year olds.
We follow the Birth to 3 curriculum, which focuses on the learning of life skills such as turn taking, playing and working together, becoming more independent and making choices, amongst many other things.
The children benefit from a shared garden with the older children and the staff take every opportunity to extend the children’s learning into the school and local environment.
Our Under 3s room has the same core provision as the main nursery.
Outdoor Learning
We have an enclosed garden for our children to enjoy. They can mix with children from the other rooms out there and there are a wide variety of activities on offer, from writing with the water and chalk on the blackboards to riding on scooters and playing in the sandpit/mudpits.
We use the playground as well and are enjoying the climbing frame and painted markings. We basically extend our nursery garden out into the playground so there is plenty of space for us to do different things!
