Kinglassie Primary School

Ready, Respectful, Safe

Welcome

Welcome to Kinglassie Primary School.

Ours is a village school at the heart of the community. We currently accommodate around 200 children over nine classes . Our nursery has space for 32 children in the  morning and afternoon  under the current 1140 provision. Our nursery is also open over the holiday periods . Our team of dedicated staff endeavour to deliver a Curriculum for Excellence designed to make children independent learners with  the opportunity to  access a variety of experiences.  Our aim is to instil confidence in our pupils and encourage enterprise and creativity in all aspects of school life. We support our children in a nurturing environment and work hard to build respect for each other in the school community. We understand the varying needs of our youngsters and ensure that they are aware of emotions and how to cope with them through their lives. We have a morning club from 8.30 until 9 am that children and parents can access. You can come in and read or play games etc before the start of the school day. There is no charge for this club. The school does also have a breakfast club from 8.15 at the  usual charge.

Outdoor Education is important and we follow the Natural Connections work throughout the school. The children enjoy the variety of experiences they bring and we encourage family learning through various events.

Pupils are well represented by the Pupil Council, Junior Road Safety Officers, House Captains and School Improvement Groups. The voice of pupils is important to us and there are other opportunities to share their views on what we are doing in school.

A very active  Parent Council represents the parent body and raises funds for various initiatives.

The community is important to us as a school and we endeavour to get involved in community events. We have worked hard over the years to build on our family engagement and offer regular events where families can come together both during and out of school hours.

As a school we use the Seesaw app which allows staff and children to share learning, information about learning and announcements etc. This is also our main communication platform for parents to get in touch with the headteacher, office, nursery or teaching staff.

We very much have an open door policy. There is no such thing as a silly question!
