Our vision – Including all young people in learning
The Pupil Support Service aims to support learning and inclusion for the most vulnerable pupils in Fife. The service will enhance learning and lifelong opportunities for pupils and develop capacity within mainstream schools.
Support can be in the form of inreach where pupils access the support centre or outreach where pupils are supported within their class in their mainstream school.
Individual support packages are designed with children and focus on literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing so they can begin to overcome their individual difficulties in order to better access mainstream teaching and learning.
Our aim is to provide learning opportunties and experiences where children can work on: resilience, building and maintaining positive relationships, anger management, building confidence, teamwork, self-regulation, problem-solving, risk assessment, solution-focussed approaches and restorative approaches.
Our alternative curriculum includes a soft start with breakfast, restorative meetings and core curricular activities. We also promote active learning, collaborative learning and enterprising approaches through the expressive arts.
Children take part in outdoor education where they are supported and encouraged to face new challenges in a range of settings.
