Active opportunities at IPS

We work closely  with our Active Schools Co-ordinator to deliver a variety of different sporting clubs across the school day.

Clubs can be before school (8am), during school (lunchtime) and after school (3pm).

Each term has different opportunities for different groups of children.

Parents and carers will receive letters home to invite their child’s class or year group to join the different clubs.

We track the activities children take part in to make sure everyone gets as many opportunities as possible.

We have been really successful in getting our children active and are the current holders of a Gold School Sport Scotland Award.

If you are a local community sports group or would like to volunteer do get in touch with our school office.

Music at Inverkeithing Primary

Youth Music Initiative (YMI) aims to create access to high quality music making opportunities for young people, offer young people the chance to achieve their potential in or through music making, and support the development of the youth music sector for the benefit of young people. Fife YMI offers a variety of music projects delivered by highly skilled Fife Music Instructors and external music partnerships with respected local and national providers.

We are fortunate to welcome Miss Russell from YMI to IPS each week. She works with pupils in our Primary 5 cohort on a range of singing and playing musical skills. We take opportunities to share pupil success through our termly ‘Celebrating our Learning’ approaches.

IPS also offers chanter tuition from the visiting music service. Our chanter tutor, Miss Muir, visits weekly and offers chanter sessions to P6 and P7 pupils following a period of assessment at the beginning of pupil’s Primary 6 year.
