Religious and Moral Education

Halbeath staff support and encourage children to develop an understanding of different beliefs and how others may think or see something differently.  We respond to children’s questions in a caring and nurturing manner, we demonstrate good listening and provide quiet calm spaces, so all children are given the opportunity to have their voice heard.  Staff provide learning activities to support social and communication skills with time to play and learn to make sense of their world around them.  Colour Monster activities are embedded through the nursery to support all children’s emotions and feelings making sure the resources are relevant and supportive to the individual child.  Staff share discussions with children about their day, talk about things that went well, any challenges they tackled that day and how they dealt with it.  This makes all children feel valued, respected, and safe in their learning environment. Children have opportunities to explore stories, images, music, and poems as they become familiar with the beliefs of the world and other religions.  Children are encouraged to learn about Scottish society and the world around them, share their ideas and thoughts. Children are encouraged to engage in play with support to develop an understanding of what is fair and unfair and the importance of caring, sharing and cooperating with others around them.
