Playful Pedagogy

Pupils are encouraged to learn through play. This means that every day, children engage in learning experiences through a playful approach. Research shows that there are huge benefits to this way of learning. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child makes it clear that all children have the right to play.

Transition from Nursery to P1

It is hoped that through the playful approach P1 is Excitingly Different, Reassuringly Familiar. The transition from Nursery to Primary 1 is supported by our playful approach to learning. Children are greeted in Primary 1 with a familiar learning environment, which will present them with new challenges and learning opportunities. Building on from skills learned in nursery, children are given time to deepen and enhance these skills in P1.

Play in the Early Years

The benefits of learning through play have been widely researched therefore play should be encouraged until at least P3.
