Quality Improvement

Quality Improvement Programmes

QI programmes are designed to improve attainment in reading and writing, while strengthening staff confidence in using improvement methodology to support learning, teaching and assessment of literacy in line with CfE benchmarks and Fife documentation.

Key aims of the QI Reading and Writing programmes:

  • Target key reading or writing benchmarks to support improved outcomes for learners.
  • Use Quality Improvement methodology to support raising attainment.
  • Develop confidence and consistency in teacher professional judgement when assessing against CfE benchmarks.
  • Through input from specialist professionals (e.g. SaLT, OT, Supporting Learners Service), teachers will develop greater insight into supporting literacy for learners with a range of Additional Support Needs.
  • Shape high‑quality learning, teaching and assessment approaches.
  • Ensure effective progress from the outset through well‑planned, targeted approach to the teaching of reading and writing.
  • Opportunities to moderate and work with colleagues from across the Local Authority.
  • Opportunities to increase confidence in using Fife Documentation.
