Within an educational setting, staff must:
- encourage the use of supportive language
- use pupil’s preferred pronouns and encourage the use of gender neutral language
- use vocabulary that is accessible to all and give definitions when necessary.
This responsibility also falls upon pupils and families who should try as much as they can to support one another and use appropriate language.
