Anti-Racism

“In a racist society, it is no longer enough to be non-racist.
We must be anti-racist.”

– Angela Davis

Why is this important in Fife?

“It does make me feel alone when I can’t speak to teachers, I can’t tell my friends this stuff, because they’re kind of ignorant towards these things.”

– A Fife pupil.

“I think teachers should have a better education on racist behaviour, racist language and racist ideologies because it’s important to dismantle them in school. If they’re so prominent then … it’s ruining their school experience if they don’t feel safe in school.”

– A Fife pupil.

These quotes illustrate how important this work in in Fife. They are both taken from the video below. The video was created in 2024. The narration was scripted in collaboration with the pupil narrator. All other content was recorded as pupils responded to the following prompts:

  • What experiences have you had of racism?
  • How did they make you feel?
  • What changes would you like to see?
