if you are looking to change your child’s current placement type you
must complete an application form online at

You will be able to apply for a funded early learning and childcare
place at your preferred private nursery, playgroup or childminder, if

Fife’s Play Sufficiency Assessment

Have your say …….where do you hang out or play? (For Action)

Thanks to children and families all over Fife, over 1300 responses were received to Fife’s online survey about play and where children and young people hang out in Fife.  Some of you may also have taken part in one of our play sessions.

We have been asked to share a link to Fife’s interactive story map about the sufficiency of outdoor play in Fife.

Fife’s Play Sufficiency Assessment

This will be submitted to the Scottish Government early next year and it will be used to plan how Fife improve the quality and accessibility of outdoor play in Fife.

School Transport

Walking Bus

We are very fortunate to have a volunteer led Walking Bus that operates from Monday to Friday. A Walking Bus operates in a similar way to a normal bus in that we collect children from agreed places at agreed times but, different from a bus, we walk! Each bus is supervised by at least two adults and there will normally be a qualified first-aider on the route. School staff also join the bus sometimes!

The bus is available for all children, P1 to P7. Each bus can take up to 16 passengers, 8 per adult on the route. Places should be booked in advance.

Bus routes

We currently operate five buses each week.;

Monday and Friday.

  • Pick up at 8.30am from the bus stop near the Harbour Drive roundabout.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

  • Pick up between 8.30am and 8.40am from the Library

Places can be booked using the Donibristle Walking Bus Facebook page. Requests to book a place must be made by 8pm the evening before.

Bus Travel

Stagecoach operate a service bus that stops and collects from Morlich Crescent at times appropriate to the start and finish of our school day. This bus is for children who are in catchment but live more than 2 miles from school. However, any child can travel using the free bus pass.

At 3pm pupils taking the bus home will meet a member of staff and are escorted to the bus to ensure that they are seated safely before the bus leaves.

The bus journey is not supervised by school staff and therefore pupils need to be responsible when travelling independently.  We have been asked by the bus company to promote no eating or drinking on the bus, so we would encourage you to explain these responsibilities to your child.
