P3

Primary 3 are settling in well into their new routines of the class. Our gym days are a Wednesday and Friday. Outdoor learning is also a Friday. We are using table points as our reward system. When the children show that they are listening to instructions and working hard they receive table points. The table with the most points at the end of the week receives a prize!

Literacy:

This term we are reading Roald Dahl’s “Revolting Rhymes” as a class for topic. The children engage in comprehension with a mixture of our class novel and general story books.

This term we are focusing on information report writing. The children are learning how to create a plan before they start writing their final piece. We are working on the importance of writing in paragraphs and using subheadings.

Reading is being done in school currently and will hopefully be sent home in term 2. We are using Word Walls and regular common words practice to support our understanding and knowledge of sounding out and blending.

Numeracy:

We are working on place value. We have used mental maths and learning through play to support our understanding of how each number has a special job.

The children are using this knowledge to set a good foundation and understanding of numbers to support our future numeracy lessons.

Health and Wellbeing:

The children are learning how to play coneball in PE. They are practicing their listening skills, ball skills and fitness skills.

The children have also been involved in discussions regarding the eight wellbeing indicators. This is when we have class chats about what safe means and relate it to real life experiences.
