Eco-School Award
Canmore is very proud to be one of only a few schools with Green Flag status as having earned 6 Eco Flags. The Green Flag Award is an internationally recognised achievement for schools and nurseries committed to Learning for Sustainability. Flags can be seen flying outside schools all over Scotland.
To achieve this, a school must show its commitment to Eco issues and how it is ensuring sustainability for the school and wider community environment. This involves the whole school and all pupils are expected to contribute, guided by an Eco-Committee made up of pupil representatives (chosen by their peers), staff members and usually parents or community members.
Canmore ensures Eco issues are integrated with projects throughout the school, pupils are Eco-minded and ensure frequent litter patrols and outdoor learning days to focus on environmental issues. We have been working closely with Young Climate Warriors this session and also focused on the COP26 seminar in Glasgow.
