What is Seesaw?
Seesaw is an online platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best.
Students add posts to Seesaw that they are proud of and they are motivated to do better work when they know their families will provide immediate feedback during the day or ask them about it that evening.
Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio.
Teachers create activities for students to complete within Seesaw or simply share the work their students have been doing in class.
Families only see their child’s work and can leave comments and encouragement.
How do we use Seesaw at Canmore?
At Canmore, Seesaw is primarily used as way to communicate with families and keep them in the loop on the learning their child is doing at school. Connecting families to their child’s journal helps give an insight into their child’s learning and celebrate progress.
Teachers and pupils will regularly post updates to their class journals with text, photographs, videos, voice recordings or comments about their learning.
How do I get Seesaw?
Families can connect to their child’s journal on the web by downloading the Seesaw Family App, available on iOS and Android.
How can pupils connect to their learning portfolio from home?
Pupils can connect to their journal on the web at app.seesaw.me By selecting the ‘I’m a Student’ login option, they can use ‘Text Code’ to login. A 16-character home learning text code is required for pupils to access their learning journal. This will be issued by the class teacher. This acts as a password and allows pupil to use Seesaw at home and post work to their journal in the same way that they would do in school. Connecting in this way is for pupils only. Parents should connect using the Seesaw Family App.
What is the difference between Seesaw Class and Seesaw Family?
The Seesaw Family App is used by parents to receive notifications of any new items posted to their child’s journal. Teachers will provide a unique invitation code, QR code, or email invite to parents which will allow them to connect with their child’s learning journal. Please ask for a code if you wish to connect.
Seesaw Class is only used by your child to access their learning journal at home in the same way that they would do in class using the class login QR code or password. They can use Seesaw Class for posting any new learning, posting homework activities or completing home learning activities set by the teacher. Parents should not use their child’s login to Seesaw Class, instead, they should use Seesaw Family. Seesaw Family will only show work that has been approved by the teacher for sharing.
