Jubilee 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope is a special Holy Year in the Catholic Church, running from December 2024 to January 2026, focused on renewal, forgiveness, and spreading hope. Pope Francis invites the faithful to be “pilgrims of hope,” engaging in prayer, community, and acts of compassion.
On 8th May, our Primary 7 pupils joined a Pilgrims of Hope walk alongside our cluster schools. They also took part in a service at St. Francis Xavier’s Church, where they shared a special project they had worked on for the Jubilee Year. Please watch the video below to see a compilation of pictures from this memorable event.

Pope Francis was a strong advocate for sustainability and expressed hope that the world will recognize the interconnectedness of social, economic, and environmental well-being.
He believed that sustainable development is essential for creating a more just and peaceful world.
It is our job, as Catholic people to be stewards of the earth and put into action the hope that St Francis had for sustainability and looking after our common home.
At St Marys, we have tried to be pilgrims of hope through our work on Laudato Si alongside our P6/7 Explorers club.
Children involved in this club have been learning about the importance of looking after our earth, recycling clothes and materials.
St Mary’s parents and members of the community donated old pieces of clothing and material. Working with P6 and P7 pupils, they created sketches and helped the children use sewing machines to bring their sketches to life. A fashion show was then planned to showcase the up-cycled clothes and inspire others to give their old clothes new life.
This is just one way of emphasising it is our collective responsibility to realise Pope Francis’s hope for us to work together to create a more sustainable future.
