Sacramental Preparation

As a Catholic school, we are privileged to support our children and their families in preparing for the sacraments. These are important milestones in each child’s faith journey, and we work in partnership with our parish to ensure that the children are fully prepared, both spiritually and practically, to receive these gifts of grace.

Primary 3 – The Sacrament of Reconciliation
In Primary 3, children prepare for their First Reconciliation (First Confession). Through prayer, stories from scripture, and classroom activities, the children learn about God’s unconditional love and mercy. They come to understand the importance of saying sorry, making good choices, and being forgiven. This sacrament gives them the opportunity to experience God’s healing love and to grow closer to Him.

Primary 4 – First Holy Communion
Primary 4 is a very special year when children receive Jesus for the first time in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. They learn about the significance of the Mass, the Last Supper, and the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. With the support of their teachers, parish, and families, the children deepen their understanding of the importance of receiving Holy Communion regularly as part of their faith life. This is a joyful celebration for the whole school and parish community.

Primary 7 – The Sacrament of Confirmation
In Primary 7, children prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, when they receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Through preparation sessions, prayer, and reflection, they explore the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit and what it means to live as a young Catholic in today’s world. At Confirmation, they renew their baptismal promises and take on a deeper responsibility for their own faith journey, strengthened to live out their faith with courage and commitment.

At each stage, our school, parish, and families work closely together to make the preparation meaningful and faith-filled, ensuring these milestones are celebrated with reverence and joy.
