Aim
Our aim remains to provide a high quality psychology service through consultation for the children and families who require this most, using a knowledgeable and supportive, team approach.
How we provide a service
We can be involved in supporting children and young people from birth to 25 years old. An Educational Psychologist will work with a child and family if there are concerns about the development, learning or behaviour of the child. The service is also focused on improving outcomes for children through training, development work and general advice. For more details see How We Work section.
We have published a privacy notice on the Falkirk Council website and there is some additional information about the Educational Psychology Service.
This blog provides an overview of the work of the educational psychology service and updates as we develop our innovative, responsive, ambitious and trusted service. We are currently working through a re-design of service delivery.
Online Guidance
We have published resources on a range of topics. This includes learning modules as well as specific guidance for barriers to learning and our ground breaking Anxiety Toolkit.
We have published advice on this Blog for parents and practitioners to encourage learning and wellbeing at home.
If you have discovered great advice or materials you would like us to know about please send these to our email address in the contact details section.
Consultation, Assessment and Advice
We can be contacted by staff, parents or young people themselves through our Online Form in MyFalkirk .
You will need to register with MyFalkirk which uses the mygovscot platform.
If the above link does not work please find us by typing in Educational Psychology in here: MyServices – MyFalkirk
You will need to provide:
- your name and contact details, including email
- details of the child such as their name, address, their school and date of birth
- an indication of the reason for requesting our involvement, the known Additional Support Needs and the advice you have already received from the child’s school,
- in most cases we will need you to provide additional assessment information, this is the current assessment (Child’s Plan) from your school or service. Insufficient information will be a reason we will not offer a service.
- The parent or young person themselves will be asked to provide consent by email and registering in this system
- they will be asked to provide equality monitoring information
It is good practice for you to have already discussed the request for assistance with the parent or young person over 16 as they will be sent an email and need to check the details.
For more details see How We Work section.
If there is a problem using the system or the person proving consent is not able to please can you download our consent form, complete it in ink and send it to us. We will phone the parent or young person (over 16) to check the consent is valid so you will need to provide these details.
If you need to be in touch contact us.
