Burns Supper

On Thursday 30th January at 1.30pm Primary 5/6 and Primary 6/7 invited around 100 people into school to join them for their Burns Supper. The pupils identified their skills, applied for jobs and planned and organised the whole event.

The event was a great success with some very important guests. We welcomed Provost Pat Reid, Tony Bragg, Mary Pitcaithly, Yvonne McBlain, Rev. Sharp, Mary Esson, Mrs McPherson and Mrs McKay. We also had a lot of parents come along. All our guests joined in as we sang Shang-a-Lang, Auld Lang Syne and Flower of Scotland. We had lots of guests joining us for ceilidh dances, Canadian Barn Dance, Military Two Step and Dashing White Sergeant.

We were lucky enough to receive donations from Patricks of Camelon, Asda, Tesco and Morrisons and served haggis, neeps and tatties, as well as shortbread and Irn Bru to our guests.

Callum, Kieran, Zanna, Shavanna, Alyssa, Erin and Stacy recited Address to a Haggis while Mrs McKenzie played the bagpipes.

Ben and Jamie wrote a very funny Toast to the Lassies, while Megan and Amy read their very clever reply.

We received some amazing feedback from our guests, we even had the Falkirk Herald photographer there to take some photographs!

“It felt really stressful when we were phoning people to ask for food, because they were not always available. It was very exciting at the Burns Supper” Erin P5/6

“It was fun creating the decorations for the hall” Zanna P5/6

Thank you to all of our guests for coming along. Thank you to the Parent Council for helping us to cook the food. And finally, thank you to Patricks, Asda, Tesco and Morrisons for their very generous donations of food and drink for our event.
