We tried some jigsawing activities in class today. We all had to become experts on different Bullying questions.
There were 6 different questions
-
What is bullying?
-
Who are the targets?
-
How should you handle bullying?
-
Where does bullying take place?
-
What should a witness do?
-
Are you a bully?
We shared our ideas with the rest of the class. We took pictures of our presentations…. thank you Marc – you did a great job editing the pictures! You listened well and might even get the job of ‘official photo editor’ for the new ‘School News’ blog !

We made ‘Bullying’ posters with Miss Goodsir. There was a competition to decide on the best 3. Mrs Nairn and Mrs Wilkie chose the winners. We’ve put pictures of them below.
First Prize – Danni
Second prize – Adam
Third prize – Nicola
Danni wrote this poem about bullying in her free time. We think it’s great!
Adam feels so sad inside
He doesn’t want to run and hide
No one helps him talk his fears
So he expresses them in his tears
The bullies beat him up bad
Not caring if they make him sad
He knows that if he doesn’t tell
The bullies will bully someone else as well
People sometimes watch and laugh
Adam sits alone so they think he`s daft
The teacher sometimes says what’s wrong
But adam says its a carry on
After 4 months Adam bursts
And no one can make him hush
The bullies are punished bad
And Adam is glad
Ever since then he can play
He has a million words to say.

We asked the pupils who they told if they were bullied. The ‘Brackets’ looked at the graph an made a podcast about the results. You can listen to it here.

Miss Goodsir helped us to make a very long class Bullying poem. We worked with a partner to write two lines of a poem about ‘Bob’ who was bullied. We watched a cartoon about him on the Whiteboard, then wrote the two lines.

We put all the lines together to make our Class Bullying poem. It looks great on our classroom wall!
We got the idea from our bogging friends at Priestsic6 when they made their ‘sick’ poems ……. thank you, Priestsic!
You can now listen to Chelsea and Lauren’s podcast as they analyse the information on their graph about how it feels to be bullied. The graph is pictured below. Click the icon to listen.

We’ll put more graphs and podcasts we’ve produced about bullying at our school over on our Maths Class Blog ….. remember you can get there by following the link at the top of this page! If you like, you can help us to gather information about bullying by voting on our poll in the sidebar. We’ll change the question each week and we’ll try to fix the things that we felt were wrong about our original questionnaires we gave out to our Carronshore pupils!
We are going to be looking at bullying in our school. We brainstormed what bullying is and we are going to use this blackboard display to help us make bullying mindmaps. We’ll post some on here.
Over on the Maths blog we have been looking at ways of gathering some information about bullying in different stages in our school. Why not pay a visit?
