Yesterday afternoon the whole school went to Skinflats Woods including the wee ones. We went to see why trees are so important to us. This time we took a different route. It took us the same amount of time but we were checking the cycle route.
When we arrived, we got into groups so we could go and find a place to sit. We got a sheet of paper called,” What do Plants Need?” So we went off to learn about the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is how a plant takes in sunlight, water and carbon dioxide and turns it into its own food. Chlorophyll is what makes leaves green and produces sugar and energy.
The tree produces oxygen but it doesn’t need oxygen so when we breathe in, the trees give us oxygen. When we breathe out we give them carbon dioxide so it is a really good relationship.
After that, Mrs Lennie asked us questions. There were A,B and C signs on different trees. We had to run to the letter that we thought was the correct answer. The wee ones went 15 minutes before us and we still caught up with them and we were tired. We all got back to school on time. Poor Katie lost her key for her bike.
Good work:)
