Spèis is Còraichean nar Sgoile – Rights Respecting Schools
We are delighted to announce that we recently were accredited as a Silver: Rights Aware School through the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools scheme.
As part of the accreditation process, we submitted evidence for the team to review and then hosted a visit which involved speaking with parents, pupils, staff and senior management to find out more about what we have been doing to ensure Sgoil Ùige has children’s rights at the forefront of all we do. We received very positive feedback, with particular reference made to the strength of Pupil Voice and Leadership opportunities.

Poileasaidh Gàidhlig / Gaelic Policy
At Sgoil Ùige, Gaelic is at the heart of all we do and it drives our curriculum. The main aim of Gaelic Education at Sgoil Ùige is to strive to develop bilingual children who can take forward their culture and heritage with pride. We follow rigorously the Comhairle’s Gaelic First policy which ensures we can prioritise its place in our school. This policy will guide our school’s Gaelic curriculum and support our Gaelic ethos as an indigenous language for all our children (UNCRC Article 30).

Ar Slìghe gu Sunnd / Our Ways to Wellbeing
As part of our Seachdain Sunnd (Wellbeing Week), pupils across the school worked together to create our Wellbeing Policy – ‘Ar Slìghe gu Sunnd’ – Our Ways to Wellbeing. This policy is pupil friendly and details all the ways we value wellbeing across our school.
The document can be found at Sgoil Uige – Ar Slighe gu Sunnd, Ways to Wellbeing Policy
