Welcome to the site of the Outdoor Learning Team in the Outer Hebrides.
Our role within the Comhairle is to help promote and increase the use of the outside environment as a learning space. We are deliberately a little vague because learning and education is not just happens to you while you are in school but is, and should be, life long.
The aim of the site is to show the work the team does and to provide you with signposts to resources and information we have found useful.
Outdoor Learning is one of the key pillars of Learning for Sustainability, with Global Citizenship and Sustainable Development Education. The important thing we realised is none of these are subjects, they should be throughout educational practice. Outdoors we feel just be another learning space for good educators to use.
