Get girls into engineering

BAE Systems Naval Ships and The Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI)

1The Design and Technology department are delighted to continue their partnership with BAE Systems Naval Ships, and recently took part in a get girls into engineering event hosted by the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI).

The group of girls from S3-S6 took part in a series of challenges based around the theme of “ I’m an engineer and I can help”. The team took part in a flooding emergency challenge and were tasked with three practical STEM activities supported by BAE Systems STEM Ambassadors and SCDI staff. The girls also enjoyed the opportunity to experience a shop floor tour as well as a demonstration of the 3D visualisation suite.

Thank you to Rebecca MacLennan (SCDI) and Kerri Chappell (BAE) for organising such an exciting and informative event,  furthermore the department will continue to work with BAE and take part in a variety of exciting opportunities in 2016.
