We are enjoying learning about Ancient Egypt.   Our class went on a trip to Kelvingrove Art Galleries and took part in an Egyptian workshop.  During our visit we met a man called Pat who was our tour guide and he knew a lot about Egyptians.  At the handling session we passed round a scarab beetle and had to tell the different between a 5 year and 5 thousand year old shabtis’.

I learned that a sarcophagus weighs the same as six buses.   Noah

I enjoyed filling in the work sheets .  Andrew

I learned that when one of the pharaohs died their bodies were mummified.   Ruby

I enjoyed looking round the museum.    Sam

Science

Our topic is Sun, Moon and Stars.  In our jotter we recorded the phases of the moon and found out that it takes a month for the moon to move around the earth, there are 8 phases during this time.  Whilst observing the sun, we have been out in the playground drawing round shadows and recording how they change throughout the day.

We drew round the pencils in the playground and we checked the shadows which got shorter then bigger again.   Emma

We watched the shadows moving.  Judah

Art and Design

Warm colour blending has been our focus during art.  We used red, orange and yellow paint to colour blend.  When dry, we used charcoal to add pyramids and camels.  This linked our Art skills to our Social Studies Egyptian topic.

I enjoyed blending the three colours together because it made the colours look really nice.     Iain

I found it hard to do the colour blending with three colours and would like to try using two colours.    Lucy

I enjoyed making the scarab beetles because it was part of our Egyptian topic.   Olivia
