Nature walk!

We throughly enjoyed our visit from Joe, the Dams to Darnley park ranger. We explored our local and natural environment, learning so many new and interesting things along the way. Joe was so knowledgable and the children were engrossed throughout. We are certainly looking forward to our next adventure together!

Happy Burns Day!

Over the past few weeks the children have been learning all about the life and work of our famous bard, Robert Burns.

They had a go at tasting haggis at our Burns Supper and there were a few empty plates!

We were also lucky enough to watch some of our talented P5 girls do some Highland dancing and they even gave us a masterclass! We tried our best and had a lot of fun.

Happy Burns Day everyone!

A healthy body & and a healthy mind!

Our Monday group have been focussing on strategies that can help ease our anxieties and worries! We have discussed the importance of a healthy diet and exercise as a major contributors to our overall physical and mental health. We have researched vegetarian meals to prepare and we started off with a healthy smoothie. We also had a go at yoga to clear our heads, ready to start our afternoon in a positive way.

We hope all of our lovely families are able to take some time out to keep a healthy mind in January!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all our lovely families and new members who have joined us in 2022!

We are excited to see everyone again and getting settled in nicely to our daily routines. The children have been working very hard and today we made our very own individualised calendar’s to help us organise and plan our year ahead. We also discussed and decided on some new targets and New Year Resolution’s to help us improve in our learning and social skills.

Christmas crafts in the woods!

The children had so much fun today working with some young people from St. Luke’s. The woods were looking very festive and we all enjoyed making our Christmas bird feeders to keep the birds happy during these cold Winter months.

Christmas has arrived in the Greenhouse!!!

Firstly, I would like to apologise for our blog absence recently but we have had technical issues with our ipad, which is now sadly in digital heaven. We have had to borrow for now but we will put a new ipad on our Xmas list!

We have welcomed two new members to the Greenhouse, Nathan and Martin. Both boys have settled in very well and we are all enjoying getting to know and work with the new members of our ‘family’.

Buddy the elf was arrived (First Class) on December the 1st and the children were very excited to see him again. Buddy makes a weekly appearance in the Greenhouse to just check-in and make sure we are all coping with the changes to our routines throughout Advent. The children have been super and Buddy rewarded them this week with a little well-deserved treat!

Christmas crafts have started and we are super excited to go to the Pantomime this week…..OH YES WE ARE!!! (PICS TO FOLLOW)

Happy Advent to all our families,

Love the Greenhouse Team x

Taking risks and solving problems

For our Outdoor learning session this week we were using a saw to chop up a large branch and we carefully listened to the safety rules and followed the instructions with care and caution. Unfortunately we had a few snapped ropes so the children worked together to solve the problem to be able to erect a den! The children throughly enjoyed playing on our new tree swing. A great afternoon had by all.

Core learning!

Here are a few examples of the hard work our children have been carrying out during their core learning tasks. Learning is always fun when we can achieve and succeed!

The emotion of Anger!

We have been exploring the character of ‘Anger’ this week and discussing what makes us angry and suggesting strategies to help each other cope in situations where we feel anger and become angry. The children were fantastic at expressing themselves through different scenarios and situations and their level of support for each other was and is commendable. I am so proud of the children when they take the learning further themselves to develop questions that provoke detailed conversations, which lead to shared strategies, with minimal adult input.  Pupil led learning at its best!
